I knew it wouldnt last forever so I didnt go silly with that money and just took what i needed, saved ALOT of it and reinvested the rest back into Duke Dollars. Then for reasons I can only specualte, Deluxe Pass litterally stopped. We're talking 1500 members down to 300 in a 3 month period. Glad i saved my money and reinvested it :)

And you did it very right :)

I love old threads :)

I'll be the first to admit I made a lot more money in adult in 97-03 than I am now. But I didn't spend all of it which allowed me to invest in things which are making me money outside adult now. Plus I'm back in school (10 more days until my final exam - yipee! Then I get to wait until the summer for the state exam and hope like hell I pass it so I don't have to wait another year to take it again......) so I'm hoping that will parlay into another revenue stream.

Hell, I think quiet's pretty much retired now, hasn't he?

i drifted aimlessly and wasted my time on quick money-making schemes in '00-03, so the way i see it, i'm 4 years behind where i should be.

crockett 03-11-2007 04:56 PM

Man I kick my self in the ass all the time. I orginally looked into AVS's back in 99-2000 read up as much as I could, but I thought it was all a scam. I didn't trust anything on the net, so I stuck to my other stuff offline.

I didn't decide to give adult a try until late 2003 and then it was just part time. But I remember surfing on the AOL banner farm and looking looking for porn on the web. lol man it was sooo easy to hack into websites back then.

Actually it must have been before 99-200 because I was surfing on a 386 with windows 3.1 and a 28.k modem.

sweetcuties 03-11-2007 05:05 PM

I didn't get in till 2000 and it was an amazing time... I didn't get in because of the $$, I got in cause I loved getting first time girls nude! Shit, I joined Busty-Amateurs and said I can do that and DID... I'll NEVER forget those days :2 cents:

but seriously, it was silly money at that point. are there people here still, who did not take advantage, but were around? i suppose 2002/2003 were my very best years (if only i'd fully scaled up a couple of years earlier).

I'm one of those :Oh crap started in '99 but didnt take advantage of it at all, was so much other stuff going on in my life at that point so I only had a couple of hours a week to put into adult. Regret it with all my life right now though :)

Been around since 1996, and have had nothing but wrong choices until just around 2002 or so.

You are not alone, hehe. I stopped for a little over 2 years and made my money with full-time stock trading and when the stock markets went down the drain I came back...wasted almost 3 valuable years. Not that I don't make money, but I could sit on a huge pile if I wouldn't have stopped back in the golden years.

layinglow 03-11-2007 06:56 PM

so did you ride the concorde between 97-03, or before that?

How did that happen? I remember seeing you post of success and it wasn't that long ago.

slapass 03-11-2007 09:49 PM

It is funny how people can look back and say wow what opportunity...

The new guy is saying wow look at right now. And we should try and keep that view also. There is opportunity right this second. A new MSFT just opened up and is selling stock etc. We just need to look with fresh eyes.

96ukssob 03-12-2007 02:12 AM

got my "feet wet" in 2001 but made a lot (a lot for me at the time) in late 2001 to 2003 and slowed down a lot in the summer of 03 and picked up again about 3 months ago.

Mainstream for me is kicking ass now. In 2003 it was definitely porn.

Mainstream is where all the porn money went IMHO. Compared to just a few years ago the whole Adult market really tanked due to saturation and torrents. That's why you see most of the guys who were making a killing in porn have shifted to mainstream ventures en masse.

I got into adult around 2001/2002, my USD income has increased each year but currency losses mean I'm effectively standing still.

$USD1000 in 2001 = $AUD2083
...
$USD1000 in 2007 = $AUD1190

So today I have to work at a factor of 1.75 - getting near working twice as hard - to have the same amount of cash in my pocket at the end of the day, as I did in 2001. Remember, these are currency losses only, this ignores the fact that it's getting hard to make $USD in the first place......

Just_Dave 05-24-2007 02:24 PM

i have been around since 98 i have made alot of money also lost alot of money lol

Pornwolf 05-24-2007 02:28 PM

Wow, I didn't think about the currency exchange aspect. That sucks.

webgurl 05-24-2007 02:33 PM

yeah the rates are so shitty right now for us
Canadians and the Euro guys too, it's a total nightmare .
At this moment 1.08 is the exchange rate CND - US .
The bank rate you might get about 1.0640 if that ...

As long as there is billions and billions of dollars being made online there is opportunity. You just need to work harder and smarter and think outside the box.
