pull the door panel off to start with -

go to your local car audio store if you can't get it off, they will be able to and possibly fix it for you

Pull the switch out, two wires will be attached, cut both. Pull out switch from working window and conect to non working window. Close window and switch back.

or

You can buy any ol 2-way switch from a electric shop and plug it in.

Neither sides electric windows work. Is there a way to push the window up or would this break something?

Step 1. Remove door panel

Step 2. Curse and rant as you can't figure anything out.

Step 3. Send sledge hammer flying towards car

Step 4. Buy something new. An 88 van???? Time to lay it to rest.

Its an old car so Im not very sure, but if you pull up on it your gonna break the lil motor that makes it go up and down and the rod attached to it.

You really should just pull the panel off (carefully) and your gonna see these holls at the bottom of the glass that some rods go thru. Pull the rods out, slide the window up then put the rods back, that should hold it up.
