Look what I got from my husband! (PIC)

I'm a great cook and I love culinary stuff!

Well my husband got me a HAIKU knife. These are by far the best and most expensive cooking knives in the world!

"HAIKU, the traditional knife-line by Chroma Cutlery, Inc.
In Japan, the art of the sword smith has a long tradition. Today HAIKU knives are manufactured in small Japanese knife factories out of high-grade modern steel. Borrowing from an ancient method, a bamboo peg ("mekugi") is inserted from the side into every HAIKU knife where the tang and handle are joined for added stability. To this day, traditional sword smiths in Japan use this time-tested technique when crafting swords like those once used by the samurai of medieval Japan."

thats a hot looking cooking knife i'm more about the flat handle though the round handles aren't as easy to grip when chopping and things of that sort or maybe its just because i have big hands

This knife is so well balanced that stability is not a question.

Thats just marketing text from their site. It's one of the best cooking knives in the world used by chefs like Emeril Lagasse, Nobu, Bocuse, Charlie Trotter, etc.

For those who don't know what a haiku is:

hai·ku

1. A Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

2. A poem written in this form.

F. Dick makes the best knives in the world.

Thats why all culinary schools use them, just like I do.

I disagree. 90% of the top restaurants and chefs use Japanese knives like Haiku and several other Japanese producers. Others are used by the help.

To each his own, but the fact sill remains that F. Dick is used almost exclusively in culinary schools.

I'm sure F. Dick are perfect but hence the word "schools" plus you should do some research outside of the USA.

For sheer sharpness your type of knife with its carbon steel blade is the best. Yes, it will stain but you will never find as sharp a knife. No doubt about it. I use Masahiro knives which are quite similar to what you have.

Thats the crap they sell to the masses. This knife belongs in the kitchen and doesnt cut bone, metal and concrete. Some say it needs to get sharpened once a year and its made fron surgical steel.
