Polish historians generally agree that the communist government imprisoned 100,000 Germans, mostly civilians deemed threats to the state after World War II. At least 15,000 died due to ill treatment, and the rest were freed by 1950.

As far as I know (based on other historians, obviously), the communists killed many, many more German civilians in Poland after taking over, and of the people responsible for murdering them a large majority were, in fact, Jews.

Doesn't justify his actions if they we're in fact criminal or otherwise. I really refrain from forming an opinion on that front because I do not know what level of duress he was under when said actions occurred.
