You know, I think that's why I don't feel like celebrating 4th this year. Our freedom is quickly fading. Quite sad actually.

I don't feel bad for the mindless sheep that voted for Bush and don't see the real shit that is really going on.

if the 2257 fight reaches the supreme court, and Gonzales is on the supreme court, wouldn't he have to recuse himself from deciding on the case since he was named in a lawsuit in regards to 2257?

i'm not sure of the exact circumstances when a judge has to recuse him/her self

Blows your fucking mind dont it? Has it ever occured to you that there are positives AND negatives in every situation no matter who is in power? Just move to Canada and put your mind at ease.

Has it ever occured to you that right now the negatives far outweigh the positives. Just look at Bush's approval rating.

You have to be more than a one issue voter.

With your logic, you would call land owners insane for voting for democrats.

Actually there could be worse people that Gonzales. He is often seen as to liberal for the conservatives and honestly could be one of the more safer choices our country could make.

i think people here are worried about his views toward the adult industry. he has made comments about cracking down on obscenity, but it isn't quite clear exactly how he feels about the 2257 case. remember, the regs were already written when he was named AG, and he basically inherited 2257 from ashcroft. ashcroft was forced to start enforcing 2257 by congress when they passed the Protect act.

but interestingly enough, in the Protect act congress didn't change the 'secondary producer' language that was argued successfully by the FSC in the Sundance case. i really don't see how the DOJ can just ignore the sundance ruling. they didn't appeal the case - they just fucking ignored it.

What the fuck are you talking about? Now with emminent domain, republicans are the ones land owners have to fear. Those hillbillies sure love their walmart and wouldn't mind tearing down a few homes to put some new stores up.

To me when it comes to such things like the supreme court. The adult industry is a little less important to me over some other issues.
I also see him as someone who inherited the 2257 stuff. Also most AG's have said they are anti obscenity and will crack down on it and so on. He seriously does not scare me as much as asscroft did.

true. but if the 2257 fight reaches the supreme court, and the supreme court overrules any positive rulings in Denver, it would bring everything back to square one. but you're right, ashcroft was batshit insane and very scary. gonzales, however, is COMPETENT which is perhaps even scarier. at this point, it seems that Bush will be able to appoint anyone he wants. the democrats signed a deal some time ago saying they won't filibuster unless it's an extreme case. so if we get another Scalia in there, it could be doomsday for this industry.

The emminent domain was a liberal vote. It is core value liberalism to give more control to goverment as opposed to private citizens.

I'm not making that up to bash liberals, that is ideological difference between liberals and conservatives.

I did find it funny that most anti-republicans thought that emminent domain was a republican issue. I figured most people on gfy have never had the time to understand the differences between the core values of the two main parties.

Think about which party wants to take away:

Private gun ownership
Private retirement accounts
Private (corporate) industry
Private medical care

All of those are things go against liberal values.

People ask me how can you be a conservate and be in the adult industry. My answer is to ask how liberalism plans to pay for government medical care, retirment and industry.

Competent is ok, generally that also means a little less insane.
As for the anti filibuster deal, a supreme court justice nomination for replacing who just left is an extreme case. This is not like Rehnquist resigning, he already is a pretty tough conservative who if replaced with such would not mess the balance up at all.
Also Bush seems to be a pretty lame duck president right now. He could not even get a nomination for the UN through. Nearly everything he does is shot down and not just by democrates but by his own party as well.

OK, so I will agree with you on some points since you do seem fairly intelligent and stated you points in a professional manner, but I don't think I will ever be a conservative.

this is true. it appears that the senate and house both see the writing on the wall. the public is starting to turn on bush. they might need to pull away from him a bit, since there's an election next year -- especially if this Rove thing turns out to have legs. (which i doubt).
