I think Chevy is making a huge mistake to market this engine as anything but a fire breathing monster 427 RAT Motor. I understand completely what you are saying but IMO Chevy should ignore the metric world abroad and focus on branding and marketing the motor as part of racing history. They ought to put the number 427 right on the side of the car. Chrysler is largely in the black right now because of their astute marketing of the Hemi (and not 6.6 liter V-8).

Those are not the 2006 Z06 numbers. Not sure what numbers those are but the new Z06 will be lucky to do 12's in the quarter mile with more than likely performance in the 13's.

Top speed for the new z06 will be around 190mph.

Shit, under 100k.

Since when is a car is only about the hp?

Maybe for your folks that think muscle cars are sports cars it is... :disgust

i love it, beautiful car

Furious_Male 07-05-2005 11:40 AM

I like it. I will wait a year or 2 until the aftermarket parts world catches up. Then buy one and add to it. The stock numbers are good but they can always be better :)

Kenny B! 07-05-2005 11:41 AM

Sweet ride, does it have the same delco radio as all the other GM cars. I never understood how they could put the same delco in every car!

You're kidding, right?
Here's a link. McEducate yourself. :)

The OLD Z-06 will do low 12's easily and can dip into the 11's.

I've seen them run 1/4's in person and they are just brutally fast. The C6 is faster.

How do you figure the new Z06 will only do 13's? :upsidedow

bdld 07-05-2005 12:33 PM

awesome ride, im considering getting last years model

Rich 07-05-2005 01:19 PM

I'm a corvette fanatic, don't know why, have been since I was a kid. I trade in my Z06 for a new one every or two, got my 2006 on order, I can't wait. I'll be the first in my city to be driving around in that bad boy.

Ace_luffy 07-05-2005 01:25 PM

You sure you're not thinking ZR-1? Preliminary #'s are in for the Z06, and it's hitting a buck-twenty-five trap speeds on pump gas. Those kinds of #'s put it within a shot of the McLaren F1 at 1/15th the price.

I'll admit, I'm biased. I've always been into the idea of making more with less. One day when gas costs more than an m60 on the black market, and manufacturers are finally forced to start using ingenuity instead of engine size to create power and performance, then, I'll be happy.

Edit: I should also say, those manfacturers would pretty much constist of any American, British, or German company.

Uhhh news flash, Horser Power is ALWAYS a function of gasoline and air. To make X Horse Power requires Y amount of gasoline, period. You think a 2.0 litre engine putting out 300HP is somehow magically creating energy out of thin air and requires less gasoline than a V8 putting out 300HP?

Did you even notice the fuel economy on the new Corvette? It's nearly 30MPG on the highway.
