__anyone here shoot with the Canon 20D?__

i need a camera to replace my 10d

i'm considering either the 20d or the 1dMark II

obviously, the mk2 is a 'better' camera, but for shooting models it's a bit much...also it's over 2x the price

the 20 gets outstanding reviews, but i've heard some major gripes about the battery grip

anyone use these willing to advise & talk about their experience with ?

hey - we use the 20D, including the battery grip. no problems so far, good working with that camera. it's just that after 120.000 pics the first body needed to be repaired - seems as if that is about the lifespan of the mechanics inside. but i would recommend it anytime - especially at that price.

I shoot with the 20D and upgraded from the 10D. The in camera sharpening is a tad of an improvement if you plan on using images straight out of the cam. with more MP, 8x10s are more detailed as well. Having said that the MKII is a fantastic camera I see a slightly improved dynamic range there. Hitting you up on ICQ.

I shoot with both cameras and you cant beat the 1ds for super high quality high rez pics, but that said it is an expensive camera and the lenes are not cheap. On a camera like that you need to use Canon L lenses or the equivilant. As for the 20d it is a awesome camera and i highly recommend it, unless your shooting magazine work go with the 20d and a few good lenses and youll be very happy with it.

Save yourself lots of money and get the 20d
Invest the rest in lenses

I shoot with:

17-40 f4 "L"

24-70 2.8 "L"

70-200 2.8 "L"

so the 20d will be a good improvement over the 10d to use with that glass! thanks guys for your input

I've had a couple of minor error issues with the 20D but once I upgraded the firmware to v 2.0 the problems stopped.

Very happy with this camera.

for sure - and we just bought a sigma 18-200 - makes working so much easier cause you now can do full body pics and pinks shots without moving

Great glass man. I use the 17-40 f4 "L" as well and am real happy with it. The most drastic improvement is of course the Mark II. But the 20D is a nice cam. You have mail.
