:mad Manic Productions & Komply I didnt want to do this BUT

looks like I have no other choice, we have written numerous Emails through their contact form, I have personally called them numerous times and so has my staff. But still no response.

This is in regards to the Software called "Komply" which is created by manic productions.

http://manicproductions.com/komply_2257/

Paid $600 or whatever for the software (although it suppose to take 24 hours or less to actually recieve the software it took longer than that), but it didnt bother me. Finally got the software installed (which was no easy task for my installer, had to rename files and whatever else to get it to work properly).

Well it comes with a default password setup in the system. Ive been trying to get in touch with them to get this username and pass for the last 4 days with no success (sucks too because I need to buy another copy as well, and this isnt impressing me so far).

So someone from Manic needs to answer the emails or answer the numerous voice mails I have left, it's getting old and I didnt spend $ to not be able to get this 2257 bullshit done.

You guys got paid now do your part. So much for the IM & Phone Support.

Good guys don't take your money and disappear, especially when they know you are working with such a tight time frame.

I was afraid this would happen when I saw Trevor was offering this product to the adult community. It is really a shame.

Yeah Trevor IS a good guy, and he IS a great and very fast programmer - but the name "manic" productions says it all. He did not name his company that by accident. He means well, but his brain is going in so many directions at once that he has a hard time ever finishing projects, and getting him to provide support for them is a total hit or miss proposition depending on his current state of mind.

I am sure I have been his biggest client for the last 4 years. He has done all of my programming and system administration. I have paid him many 10's of thousands of dollars for custom programming and server administration and he really does know his stuff. However most of what I have paid him to do has recently all been replaced or soon will.

He makes programs that do amazing things -- but in a business where reliability is so important and where everything is so dynamic and constantly in a state of change, I prefer something less amazing and more reliable and predictable.

He has two problems, finishing a job, and then being available to fix them when they break. (and unfortunately it seems something breaks, making the program totally unworkable about every other time that PHP, Msql, or Zend, does updates.) Then you sit with nothing working. If you are lucky, Trevor responds quickly and you are back in business within hours or minutes... however if he is off somewhere -- on a "tangent".... good luck, They used to only be for a few days, but the last two years there have been times when he didn't respond by ICQ, Email, or phone for more than a month -- often while I pleaded that he get things to work again. My Email, ICQ collection of communications is something for a book.

It has cost my business dearly, but I always went back to him. Yes he is a nice guy... but mainly because nobody else can/will pickup his work!... So you have a big investment and you are told it needs to be redone from scratch, for 10's of thousands more) everyone tells me he doesn't code in normal ways... and that figures... because he is not a normal guy -- which I think probably is what makes him such a great programmer -- and he is a great, super knowledgeable person to talk about everything the world is about -- but for now anyhow, I don't think he is someone you should be involved with in huge projects that will/may require long term and uninterrupted support - or that you ever expect to have all the original features fully implemented and finished.

I still have love for this guy. He has a very supportive wife and new son and I hope he is able to find an answer for his conditions for all concerned. I had really hoped that he would do very well with the Komply software, and that it might be the impetus to get him on track. But from posts I read on different boards it is looking like instead it might take him the other way.

I handle personal business person to person, and that's exactly what's been done. I'm sure anyone asking Extreme John will know that this has been long since handled.

And for the record, the reason for the delay (which is purely my fault) was intense development on version 1.1, which is been out since last week - include a complete rewrite of the site scanner and user interface :D

Don't know who he notified or didn't notify... didn't think it was a "notify" type of thing. Regardless, I was in contact with him over the issue a number of days ago and got him the info he needed - no matter who he "notified".

wasn't talking about notifying us that your situation was settled....
talking about notifying us that the product was done and being sold...starting on June 3 on ICQ, he kept telling me it was "just a few hours away" and that he'd let me know, as well as sending out email to those who signed up on his mailing list.....never heard a word, and bought another product for 1/10 the cost that does almost as much anyway...

We do installs free.. and actully prefer to do the installs so we are 100% sure the software is 100% working before important data is entered... it takes us about 2 minutes, not counting upload time unless something unexpected comes up (rarely, but another reason I prefer to handle the installs... less frustration IF something does come up)...

Anyway, version 1.1 has been out for a while now... 1.0 had some bugs with the installer, as well as some usuability issues (it was downright UGLY)... 1.1 is out now with more code added than 1.0 had in full as well as a complete replacement of the install, and user interface, etc...

And honestly, we code for our own needs... I know the software works, and works well, even if 1.0 had some problems... we learned a valuable lesson - never rush a release, or you're going to get bit... it was a bad call to rush, but those issues are past.

I am truely sorry for the issues with Extreme John - it was a combination of factors (such as pushing to get 1.1 done, tested and released and a mail client that decided spam arrest is a spammer). I don't treat clients like that as a rule and would never screw over anyone knowingly and, hopefully, unknowingly. I still can't figure out why there were problems with my ICQ #.. it's the number I use daily, and it's working fine.

Anyway, posting here means wasting time I could be working on the software... got a bit list of feature requests people want added and I'm in a heavy programming kind of mood. Anyone else wants to start shit, fine... take to to me personally... if you want to keep bumping this thread.. fine... but I'm done replying... I know where I stand, my clients (or at the majority) know where I stand and anyone else who's contacted me for support knows that they can get a hold of me pretty much day or night by IM, E-mail and - hell - I've even given my home phone out to anyone who's asked -- and never gotten even the least bit annoyed when anyone has called, day or night.

Anyway, good luck to 2257 made easy and the other 2257 record keeping software folks.. You can do your business by trash talking your competition, but that's not how I believe in doing business. It serves no purpose in the end.

don't get me wrong either...i'm not the competition...i'm just a customer.
if you remember, i had been talking to you daily on icq about whether the software was ready...then you vanished from icq for almost a week and didn't answer my email inquiring if it was ready...and the last update i could see on your site as of last weekend was from june 3.
so i bought something else...i'm happy with it...and i'm letting people know that.

Ok, my bad... I didn't associate the handle here with the ICQ handle. I was invis on ICQ while making the changes to Komply. 1.0 was functional, except for the installer and there wasn't a spider yet.. 1.1 added the spider and ended up taking a lot longer than I had planned on it taking once I started getting a lot more outside feedback and feature requests.

And yeah, I never announced it to my mailing list since I had never put up the mailing list collection form on the new site. As for the updates, I've spent a lot more time focusing on the software than a pretty and current web site... I'd rather make sure the existing clients are well cared for than focusing on getting new clients (although I certainly don't mind new clients either).

Anyway, best of luck and I'm glad you were able to find a solution which works for you.

Extreme John:

Did you get everything worked out with KOMPLY? How is it working for you?
