Does CCbill and Epoch have the ability to block virtual card numbers?

From Citibank:

"Virtual Account Numbers is a free service for Citi® cardmembers that gives you a substitute card number to use in place of your credit card number when you make a purchase online. This random number provides you with additional security.

It's easy to use: before every online purchase, you simply get a new number from Virtual Account Numbers to use at each new merchant. And activating this free service is easy..."

So bascially, no long-term rebills.

It wouldn't be so bad if they can distinguish the numbers and then give them only one purchase option - either 30 days at 25% more or a 90-day subscription.

Oh that sucks. I would make virtual card users buy at least 3 months worth if you could get away with that.

Interesting idea of generating the random number each time. I wonder if they ever re-use the numbers again?

Maybe, if we are lucky, the virtual account numbers will use their own BIN code (the first few digits that identify the bank) or at least some sort of pool that is easy to identify.

Unless that is the case, I doubt there is a way to find them.

What if you generate a random number, but never use it? Does it expire?

I have gotten through on a ccbill site before using a store bought debit visa card. I picked one up as a test to see if it would work or not.
Had me spooked for age verification reasons.

I think they can because epassporte is a virtual number and it was blocked by ccbill.

The only way to block them would be (as Nathan pointed out) if they have their own BIN. However, even if they do have a BIN unique from the normal credit cards of that particular bank, Visa does not provide us processors with a list of "Virtual" card bins vs. Gift Card bins vs. Normal credit card bins.

Correct, I use it all the time. I have had both my CC stolen and haven't worried about it since I went to the Virtual CC. I set the limit just above the purchase price, and once it is used, only that company can use it, no-one else.

Burnie

P.S. I also just used it for a FSC membership with CCBill and no problems
