Need some help in picking a new car

I?m looking for a third car, want something to have fun with. It has to be a new car from the dealership up to $40k, I?m not looking to spend my days in the garage.
Here are a few I have been thinking about, let me know if you think I should buy something else, I?m open to anything as you can see by the range. Again this should be a fun car.

Ford mustang convertible GT

Ford Thunderbird convertible

BMW Z4 2.5i Roadster

BMW 325Ci convertible

Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 Roadstar

Mazda RX-8

Lotus Elise

Mini Cooper S convertible (Works)

VW new beetle convertible GLS

Caterham Super7 Roadsport SV

I'd take the lotus Elise, especially sine it's your third car and you're looking for fun! BTW where's the Z convertible? I love my grand touring roadster, would pick the Lotus if I had a bigger budget and it wasn't my main ride.

may I suggest you add an Audi tt quatro roadster to your shopping list;
enough horses; well engineered, aluminum body, not overprized; keeps its value
can be driven all year around on paved and unpaved roads.
pick one with the shift peddles on the steering wheel

With the way gas prices are going, I'd say look for something with atleast moderate gas mileage.

As I've said a fun car up to $40k, anything goes
I think that the only one over $40k is the Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 Roadstar and it is about $43k

addi----i have a 95 porsche 993 (mine is in perfect shape--48k miles and bought new) and I like it more than any new 911's. I plan to keep mine forever. I only drive her about 4k to 5k miles per year.

U could get a 95-98 for 30k-40k (us)with less than 50k miles. It will drive and handle 10 times better than anything else u buy and u could sell it 4 or 5 years for now for close to what u payed..

Porsche 993 models---the best 911 ever made . They are bulit like tanks, very minimal maintenance, super fast and handle better than any car made.

Ask Mikey about mine and mine is polar silver which is by far the hottest color and also still looks brand new no matter how old she gets..

In no particular order my picks.

1) Mercedes Benz SLK but I'd go for the 350 or AMG 55
2) RX-8
3) BMW 3 series

Stay away from anything Girlie or American Made.

I'm really looking for something new, I don't want to start looking for used cars, just to go to the dealership and get one

I think one of these will be really fun. I personaly would go with the 3-series convertable, especially if you can get the 330ci. Man, you will love the way that car drives and how quick and fun it is. I personaly have a 328Ci and im lovin it!

The new Evo IX and the STI are real great cars, but I'm not sure they are under $40k.

Yeah. The evo is over. It's a shame, I drive a Scooby and I wouldn't change it for the world, and it blows away most other stuff on the road
