If i'm not mistaken the Evo IX will take some time before the US launch. You can expect as usual much lower prices there tho..

Its great to get ripped off even in cars made in Europe...For example the Boxter S costs 75.000? (got to love taxes..) here...

A SLK200 Kompressor is 46.000?

If your primary goal is to have a fun car to drive, nothing on the list compares to the Elise. I just picked one up, and I can say that it is without a doubt the most fun, lively, smile-inducing car I've ever driven... and I've driven a few.

It's not the most comfortable car in the world (especially with the sport package, it jounces and bounces over bumps in a way that's very similar to a kart). When you're at freeway speeds (or getting on it), you really can't hear the (crappy to start with) stereo at all. You will frequently make a fool of yourself trying to get in/out in front of the people who stop to gawk at the car. The truck won't fit a case of wine and the (rolled up) soft top at the same time. It's hard to park and walk into a store without getting into several conversations. Being next to an SUV on the freeway is scary, especailly when they veer into your lane while looking at the Elise rather than the road.

But it is uncompromisingly FUN. Quick enough to be entertaining, and corners... don't get me started on corners. Highly, highly recommended.

My new toy (the red one, not the yellow one ):

Cheers
-b

You can get a used TVR Tuscan (car from swordfish) for around $40k

It's a stunning car, attracts alot of attention, lots of fun to drive!

It's also a convertible, roof & back window come off and go into the boot.

Some pic's of my Reflex Charcoal Tuscan

Recent pic after using mothers polish..

Older pic's

As for what it sounds like, here is a short clip of a Black Tuscan

The TVR is an amazing car, but are you sure you can get it for $40k in the US?

Sorry i thought you where in the United Kingdom as it says "Location: UK" under your username, no it would be a quite a bit more than $40k to get it into the usa - import, tax, duties, etc

I'm looking for a fun car while I'm in the US, I spend some time in NY so I would like to keep a car there as well
And I think that even here in the UK it is not $40k but £40k

After test driving most of these cars, I think I'll go for one of these 5, let me know if you think I should checkout something else:

Audi TT Roadster

Nissan Z350 Roadster

BMW Z4 2.5i Roadster

Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 Roadstar

Lotus Elise

What can I do, I just love RoadSters Thanks for all the help so far

Its kinda unfair to put the Nissan Z350 Roadster there cause its a different league than the others...

From that list:
1º Nissan Z350 Roadster
2º Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 Roadstar
3º BMW Z4 2.5i Roadster
4º Lotus Elise
5º Audi TT Roadster

Look into an R32 or R33 skyline gtr if you just want something that will be fun. The R34 is to damned heavy!

I'm looking for a 2 sitter and all of them are 4 sitters.
Also I don't think that they are still making the skyline gtr, and I'm looking for a new one

This is true. I'm biased towards the GTR's because I had seat time in one with 400hp, I ejaculated all over the steering colum

However, you mentioned 2 seaters and new.. Have you ever driven a Honda s2000?

From a pure hp prespective (tho there are other variables but you get the idea)

1º Nissan Z350 Roadster - 280hp
2º Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 Roadstar - 220hp
3º BMW Z4 2.5i Roadster - 184hp
4º Lotus Elise - 190hp (tho since it isn't heavy you get a much better hp/weight ratio than with most of the rest)
5º Audi TT Roadster - 180hp (1.8T) or 225hp (2.1 Quattro model)
