That is true, Moscow is not Russia. People in Moscow live pretty good, average income, is like $300-400/month. But as soon as you go out to other cities, people live like shit. The richest people in Russia got rich when the Soviet Union broke up. They sold all the machinery, parts from old Soviet factories. Like I know this person who sold cables and other wiring materials that contained gold and platinum, he is a millionaire now. All those millioanaires got where they are by scams, murder and through other illegal shit.

Moscow is an expensive, rich city with a lot of atractions(only a few cities can compete with them), cannot be compared to the rest of Russia, because people do really well there.

There is no official "average salary" in Russia because most of ppl. are getting their salary in the envelopes. That's a way is used by employers to avoid the taxes. Thus your official salary may be even $100 a month on paper, but your real salary will be a way different... At least I DON'T KNOW a person who earns less than $1000 a month here in Russia (BTW, I have a lot of friends and buddies)... I'm working in the adult industry and my income is a rather good for even the US webmasters, but I can't consider myself as a rich one here... Also keep in mind that even $1000 is a clear profit (you don't have to pay any taxes from it) Furthermore don't forget that we don't have to spend a lot of money for medicine etc. For example, how much it will be to treat a few tooths in the USA? I guess a few thousands bucks. Correct? Here it will be only $100-$200 at all! Or how mush it would be to call an ambulance in the USA? Perhaps something about $1000. Correct? Here in Russia it will cost you exactly NOTHING. The same with education etc...

So the rech countries are those were the ppl. could earn more, but spend less than in others.

I bit wrong again... About 20% of all Russians are living in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg only. But(!!!) there is a lot of other big and rich cities in Russia as well. So just think about the numbers :winkwink:

In fact, Russia has terrifically changed during last 10 years and it still changes very fast. It's not a same country as it was even 5 years ago... The communist regime has been busted and now everything is working and growing here.

i mean, if you live good then good for you. and i know there are many people in russa. specially in moscow and st petersburg, but you cannot compare the quality of life of the average say dutch citizen (i know the name usa hurts many you guys) to the average russian.

You're talking about Dutch? He-he... I was in Amsterdam about 5 years ago (was working by a contract there as a programmer). So now I know that $2,500 is a good salery for a programmer there (I know some ppl. there who haven't earn even $1000 a month). By the way, do you know any good programmer in Mocsow or SPB who would agree to work for $2,500 a month? Personally I don't know the one... All the programmers I know here earn 1,5..2 times more. And please don't forget that in Russia it's a CLEAR SALARY (no taxes should be paid prom it). But in the Netherlands you have to pay a rather big taxes (more than 30% as far as I remember) from your salary.

BTW, when you were in Moscow for the last time? 10 or 20 years ago? :1orglaugh

BTW, you know I'm working in the adult biz. And we're (me, my wife and our 11y.o. son) spending about $1500 a month only on FOOD because I don't like to eat some shit (e.g. mcdonald's etc...) So be sure I have a rather good income comparing to many guys at this board. But(!!!) I don't feel like a rich one here in Moscow because all my friends and relatives here earn much more. They aren't working in the same biz like me, they have their own business or working for various companies (mostly International ones). I feel myself a bit below an average class. I have no a country-house, even have no my own car (actually I just don't need the one but however...)

$2500 a month is a complete joke for a salary here in Holland. Thats bout $800 more then we get as social sec when unemployed. If youre a programmer here and making $2500 or less then youre doing something wrong.
