Being athletic is also how you position your feet, your coordination , etc.. THat helped the guy in red.. one.. to avoid the "punches" and two.. to have any type of power when he hit the other guy...

That video reminds me of a funny fight I saw happen in my background during a high school party back in the day.

Two guys I know decided to get in a small fight. One guy was a tall, lanky dorky looking guy who just started tai kwan doe. So he starts the fight off by going into a stupid horse stance and then screamed "TAI KWAN DOE BITCH". Now you got to picture a guy saying this who ISN'T athletic looking and we all knew was dorky.

So everyone busted out laughing and then the other guy gave tai kwan doe dork a shot to the face and the fight was over. Dude basically ran away from the party.

I want to see the rest of that video, lol. Wonder if the fight ended there or if more punches were thrown.

It doesn't matter how many times you go to karate class or how many times you hit a punching bag, if you don't have experience with full contact fighting, than you will end up just windmilling it out. The red shirt guy did a nice little kata and intimidated the other guy into already thinking he was going to lose before the first punch was thrown. At the end of the day, even the toughest guy can get can get laid out with a lucky punch, so forget about the fisticuffs and pull out the nina's....

Anyway, it was good for a laugh....

My family runs martial arts schools all over the world and hold titles globally. Not to mention several militaries in various countries from Judo, Boxing, Taw Kwan Do on down the line.

In combat you do not POSE. You either kill something or go the fuck home and eat cornflakes. You do not argue, debate or enter into light banter. You KILL or go the fuck home. Dude throws a punch, with Kung Fu you're taught to tear his arm off. Be dumb enough to roll up on someone who has their Tiger and Dragon forms down pat and you'll see what I mean.

Good points there. I've seen boxers take out martial artists with one jab. It's how cool you keep your head during combat. I've knocked guys out cold with a light slap to the mandible and broken all kinds of ribs with a ram's head punch. Yet good ol' fashioned wrasslin' techniques are the best way to get used to close combat. A trained wrestler's strenght and endurance are fearsome as they're used to grapples and locks.

THAT'S what I'm talking about. When all is said and done it ended up in a grappling/wrestling challenge. Had there been no rules, biting and tearing would have engaged and it would have been a different outcome.

Wrestling is as important a combat tool as anything because it all boils down to wrestling and grappling.

Remember the first UFC when the fellows from Brazil were dominating? Look at their wrestling techniques.

The only thing that thwarts a wrestler is tearing and biting when distance strikes and blocks don't work.

I don't care how tough a wrestler you are, when someone starts biting or tearing ligaments and muscle tissue loose you will let go.
