Just like some gay people are in the closet, many porn webmasters are in their plain brown wrapper.

That's lovely. Nice to know he got my permission to write about me. NOT!

In the future, I advise all conventions to have a disclaimer on registration and on all seminar doors stating that by attending or participating you are agreeing to be filmed/recorded/written about etc. Otherwise a liability is just waiting to happen.

They do this all the time in every other industry. It is especially important to have permission from the adult industry.

Though the writer didn't degrade me in the article, he also negated the exact point I made... I do not tell people outside industry what I do, to protect my daughter. And he told. If I knew he was in the room amongst the industry, I would have spoken accordingly.

actually, i thought this was a really great panel, it was a sort of psychology/therapy session for webmasters dealing with the inevitable situations that arise from working in the industry. i was very interested to hear what the people with children felt/had to say because it seems to me it's *most* tough for them to be able to be open and honest with their kids without some possibly very serious repurcussions.

there were also many other panel discussions, not just the psych one on family values in porn (which wasn't even the name of it i don't think). just to clarify!

I was included in the article too Lori... It's called freedom of the press I noticed the reporter in the room but not until after the seminar was more than half over. He was in the back right corner kinda hidden behind his laptop... which was tough considering the guy is like 6' 7"... but what can ya do?

Anyhoo... a disclaimer would be necessary with filming and perhaps recording. But for writing? I don't think so. Who's to say an adult industry writer doesn't decide to take his/her work and pitch it to the NY Times or something?? When you agree to be on a seminar you have to know that there *could* be a reporter in the room from anywhere. The liability lies within the reporter itself should they write libelous or factually incorrect statements.

Man that article got me thinking that maybe I should protect my identity better. It's not a problem now but later in my life it could be. If you google my full name now some boards come up where I've used my full name and other places where others have used it in full when talking about me. Not to mention that there's not that many Sagi's in the US in the first place. I'm still with some friends here in San Deigo (who do know fully what I do) and they just told me that in the past they've googled my name and saw those sites.

It IS somewhat odd to have wired.com link to that party, isn't it? Yikes!

Try having your full name be the first 2 words of the article! OOPS! I stopped worrying about it long ago. I'm totally busted by now!

I don't think anyone knew the guy was in the room. Yes freedom of press, understood...so he has a right to write about things, but was he registered for the show? And tho it may not be mandatory to have a disclaimer at shows, any show, it doesn't hurt to be aware and remind people.

Considering the topic was such a vulnerable one to begin with, I think this hits home greater than being quoted about a 2257 issue in the industry.

It's a learning curve, unfortunately a bummer.

Cybernet was awesome tho. And all the seminars were amazing and packed. the most seminars I ever attended at one conference. Thanks again Jay for all the hard work! My clients were very happy!

You raise an interesting question, Lori -- obviously, if it had been a real "Therapy" session, there'd be no question of the violation -- ironic the subject under discussion would be "how to work in the Adult Biz and keep a low profile..." --

it's a good one to learn early. anyone who works in this business COULD end up with their name in the public at any time. We really have no controll over the media and since sex sells they will be looking more and more in the future to target people in this industry - and not always in a good light.

some of the lower profile people might be the real smart ones.

I have very mixed emotions....... I guess we should have the sign for liability purposes - we always had one for AdultDex, which became a public show. I have somewhat resisted for Cybernet, because - I DO NOT give my permission to be videotaped, recorded or anything else; without knowing who was doing it and when. Even though I sold all my websites, I still feel like I am one of you. I have kind of felt that with the sign we might be giving permission for things we do not want. Maybe they would feel that they don't have to identify themselves or ask permission. In 16 shows, reporters have always made themselves known when talking to me. They have asked for quotes, pictures , etc - I either granted them or declined.

Although the article has many huge points we have been trying to make for years....... I guess he did not identify himself or wear his badge in the open when asking for quotes?

Kudos to Aly - she was right on point!!!!
