Fake your own kidnapping, get the whole country worried about you, get arrested, pay $13K to cover part of the costs for the search, walk away with a slap on the wrist ... then make a cool half-mil on selling the rights to your tragic story.

How many more immoral, self-absorbed, head cases are going to think "gee, I should try that!"

Think of it this way, her and her boyfriend weren't in the Fortune 500 but they've now got good start.

I don't know if it would apply to such a situation, but in Canada we have a law that prohibits criminals of profiting from books, movies, interviews related to the crime.

She has people (her family I would assume) worried sick about her and law enforcement tied up in investigating her disappearance (when they could investigating real crimes), and now she profits from it all. Insane.
