Runaway Bride: $500K for Her Story!!!

Fake your own kidnapping, get the whole country worried about you, get arrested, pay $13K to cover part of the costs for the search, walk away with a slap on the wrist ... then make a cool half-mil on selling the rights to your tragic story.
How many more immoral, self-absorbed, head cases are going to think "gee, I should try that!"

According to a FoxNews/AP story, runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks has made a deal with a media company for the rights to her and fiancé John Mason?s story. The company is reportedly shopping a TV movie to networks about the couple.

Officials in Georgia are not happy:

"It?s disturbing to me on a personal basis that she?s willing to profit from this, but there?s nothing I can do about it legally," Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "There was no condition of probation that could have prevented it."

Duluth Mayor Shirley Fanning Lasseter also found the development distasteful:

"You want something printable?" she asked a reporter. "I think it?s a shame that anybody could profit from this."
