That is sad. It is a very intense ride but I don't think it is Disneys fault. My son was five when he rode it.

That's sad. But they mention these old people in the article who had epilepsia and stuff, wtf are they thinking "Hey lets go into a ride that simulates going in to space"

My question is, what fucking parents let their kids on rides that intense? Sorry but you couldn't pay me enough to get my kids on something like that.

The ride barely moves at all. There is a screen in front of you that makes it seem like you are moving much more than you actually are. There is a good deal of pressure when you "launch" though.

I havent been on that particular ride, but me & my kid have been on every ride at Disney in Anaheim except for Space Mountain. We also ride dirtbikes and race gokarts together, does that make me a bad parent?

Wow...sad. Honestly I hope for the parent's sake they find out the kid just had some kind of medical issue and his death was not caused by the ride...that way they don't have to live with the knowledge that a day of fun turned into tragedy and question their choices for the rest of their lives.

true. and there should be some warning signs before you enter like, 'could cause sickness'...'not advised to people with heart problem'...and the ride should be for 13 yrs.old and above...

No. What does going to ANY amusement park have to do with this? If I said "Hey I went to Six Flags and had a great time" WTF would that have to do with anything?

taking children on rides with lots of centrifugal force, lots of gforces, etc, is extremely dangerous. A child's resistance to such things are much lower, and their skeletal system is not completely developed, such rides can seriously injure a child, even if such injuries aren't apparent right away. I wouldn't state outright that you're a bad parent, but it's your choice. REally depends on how old your kids are, too.

if that kind of ride has already caused injuries on many people young and old, then why do they still allow it to operate?...I could juz imagine what the boy felt...I'm not fond of those kind of rides since I have motion sickness and puke easily..hehehe..I remember puking on someone below me when I was on a Ferris Wheel..and that anything but cool..good thing the fellow didn't noticed who puke on him..

What a trip.

JUST YESTERDAY, I went to Disneyland with my girlfriend and we went on that "indiana jones" ride. (pretty fuckin lame) and there was a couple with their 2 kids behind us in our car.

At the end of the ride when it came to a stop, the lady behind us started having a seizure as we were getting off. Not sure what happened to her after that.

That would put him the 99% range. Average high for 4 year old boy is 40 inches. For 5 years old 43 inches. Fora 6 year old 45 1/2 inces.

During an eight-month period in 2003-04, six people over age 55 were taken to hospitals for treatment of chest pain and nausea after riding "Mission: Space," though none of them was found to have any serious problem.

Would you consider that A LOT, considering how many tens of thousands if not more had rode that ride in that time span?

The ride in question isn't very intense. Any of the current top line coasters at a Six Flaggs park can generate up to 4gs of gravity during peaks, versus the 2gs that Mission Space creates.

The kid probably had something undisclosed and unknown, possibly a genetic heart issue, who knows what. Sad, but I'd be willing to bet he'd be one of those strange "Basketball deaths" ten years from now that you hear about, or some other physical activity.

Last year, some guy fell out of the Superman ride at Six Flags near me. Two years ago, I was in Universal Studios in Orlando and some 34? year old girl died of a heart attack on the Hulk when I was there.

New England. He had MS I think. Since then they added a lap belt. (They only had the 1 bar that held you at the waist.)

Not very intense for an adult, perhaps, but for the fragile body of a 4 year old child? A lot would be "intense" to them that we wouldn't even register.
