Ah, one HUGE piece of advice. Get one that plays nice. Too many people buy cheap acoustics that are hard to play because of high string action and get discouraged. Stay away from no-name brands unless they are backed by Gibson/Epiphone or Fender and Cort. You could get away with paying $200-$300 for a decent beginer guitar that will be a joy to play. | |

				 | One thing,. don't fret (no pun intended) over solos. You won't nail them now, tomorow or next year. Concentrate on the rythm for now. |

				 | Get a friend or guitar teacher to get you started. All you'll need is maybe 6-8 lessons and you can either play on your own after that or continue with lessons. You'll learn the fundamentals like being able to tune your guitar properly for starters Friends of mine were in bands and I loved that they could play the songs I listened to. It just so happened there was a great guitarist that lived a block from me and he was offering lessons. I did a one hour lesson once per week for 7-8 weeks and just went on my own after that figuring out stuff and using guitar magazines. I was doing it for fun, not to be an amazing guitarist. If I wanted to be really good, I would have continued with the lessons. The guy that was teaching me had been in bands, he was amazing. He was in university and I was in first year of highschool so he was a young guy like me and we would trade cd's and stuff. When I was quiting, he was getting heavily into Flaminco guitar playing. The guy was incredible. |
