We have one old clunker in the corner here still running it with a couple of old Win98 programs that we use once every blue moon and each time that we go back to it as time passes it just seems more and more horrible.

I don't think webmasters use Win98SE anymore, but maybe some surfers..

One station here in our office broke down and tried installing XP, 2000 Pro, Server 20003 but hangs on process. And finally, I got to install Windows 98SE and it worked. I think this will be fine to a staff doing some general stuff like emails, word processing, surfing, etc.

just make sure you install a firewall, I dont think 98SE is secure.

Never once experienced blue screen of death on 98SE, but have a number of times on XP.

Not so much anymore, but when I first got the new PC I got to see it a lot. Finally fixed the configuration problem (2 sound cards, one onboard, one PCI). Also when I had AMD chip overclocked. Fixed both, have not saw it since.

98SE was decent I suppose, for it's time. Has a lot of limitations, or quirks new OS do not have. My personal favorite was tracking down drivers, or having to manually configure new hardware, etc.

Before picking up new PC's with XP, I did not know what to do with myself when I no longer had to track down drivers, and manually configure things. Wow.

I rarely get the BSOD, and I hate XP, so while I am stuck with XP on my laptop, I will probably stick with 98 on the desktop until I am forced to upgrade . . and then I will do it kicking and screaming
