What do you use for Spam protection, how many false negatives do you get?

I know things like spamarrest will get a lot of false negatives.

I use Outlook's filtering + Inboxer and I get too many false negatives. What about you?

I got tired of digging through 500 emails a day in my deleted items bin, so I created a second inbox, titled it "A_LIST_INBOX"..... then (in outlook express) I created a new rule to route certain people's emails directly into that A List inbox. I in effect created an "unspammable inbox" for myself. Then I began one-by-one adding people's names to that rule, and set the rule to route their emails to A List Inbox.

Now I have an inbox that all my close contact's emails go directly into. :D

I still have to skim the deleted items bin because I tend to find one or two legit emails in there every day from new people emailing me, but at least my regular contacts never get falsely routed to the delete bin.

Play around with it, it might work for some of you too.

spampal.org it tags the emails and you can filter them to a folder in outlook, It has whitelisting, bayanese filtering, virus protection etc and supports all the major blacklists.

best part is its free. Good stuff give it a try.

MailWasher Pro for years and never leave home without. The spam settings work very well with a bit of tinkering.

What amazes me with spam filters is how many people will not take the time to "validate" and every day I am still forced to review the "unwanted" emails area for those idiots I DO want to hear from.

I use SpamArrest and if anyone slips through by manual verification it's easy enough to block them through Spamarrest.

uhm that's exactly what a service like SpamArrest does... why not get an account there? Might be more time efficient...

I'm using this outlook filter: http://keir.net/k9.html .
It's free and the best I've used so far, I have overall accuracy 99.70%.
A GFY member recommended it 1 year ago, I forgot his name.

My ISP tags all spam with [BULK] - subject line
It sometimes tags webmaster newsletters but it's pretty good.

I just filter the word "bulk" to my trash and look through it real quick periodicaly.

I use Spam Assassin with a liberal threshold. Then I use my email client's filters for fine tuning. This method keep 99% of all SPAM in check.
