Scuba Diving in San Deigo?

Hey everyone,

I'm staying out in SD for a couple more days and try to do a couple day/night dives. Is anyone certified and would like to go with? I have a non-industry person going with me so far. Would be fun to get a fun group going

That sounds like a blast! Doesnt that area, or for that matter all of the california coast line have a sea lion population? I would enjoy diving with them very much.

Night Diving: It's not bad at all. I thought it would scare the hell out of me but I actually ended up enjoying it. You see some cool things you'll never see in the daytime.

I'm Naui Advanced Certified. But, unfortunately I'll be in Las Vegas for my mother's wedding. Yay. What fun.

How long will you be in Vegas for? You can always go dive in Lake Mead and check out mutated fish

Just as a heads up...about 3-400 yards off the beach, at about the 50/60' depth, you'll encounter the "Rose Canyon Fault" drop off. I've sat there many times and watched the whales meander by.

I don't particularly like lake diving, although I've never tried Lake Mead. I take it you've tried it out? Was it as dull and boring as most lakes?

Hi Zoe,

I'm a diver, but there are two problems....:-(

1. I'm leaving the afternoon of the 16th
2. That water is REALLY FREAKING COLD! (like 61 degrees) I'm saying you will need a 7mil full suit with hood or even a dry suit. Plus the visibility is pretty sucky this time of year, like 10 feet max (as I remember from living out there years ago)

(I'd still probably go for it if I was staying out there.... I'm a sucker for diving .....and the drop off is awesome )

Sounds like fun, wish I was going to be there.

I guide night dives every Friday and Saturday at my friend's dive resort here in the Philippines. Good stuff! (I'm a PADI Divemaster).

Enjoy!

Lake Mead sucks, thats where I learned to dive. Our diving class did our dives in Lake Mead.
I have dived off the channel islands, did a shark dive in florida and dove in the islands. so far, the turks and Caios islands have been the best dives.

We can definitely dive in Florida. The ocean temp out here is now 80 and it will be 84 by august.... So you don't need any suit at all. :-)
(and I don't think that the shortie you are wearing in that pic is going to be enough in San Diego!)

I'm all for diving before internext off of lighthouse point or after internext in the keys.

Oh yeah, it does suck.

Lake Mead has green murky water

Your photos are awesome though, I really need to check out some more dive areas. Catalina Island is real fun too
