I use cgi scripts to build my tgps as I'm sure many others do and I wish their was such a thing as a "gallery description tag" in each gallery.

Something like this

My script could easily find this when adding your galleries and you would be sure that the clicks to your galleries were more productive.

You could even have mutiple description for the gallery to cover more categories example:





My script could use this to choose the key words that best matched my traffic etc...

There already are html tags like "content" "keyword" "title" and "descripton" in the standard html header but almost no one is using them.
If all these tags were used then I guess the other tag wouldn't be needed except to refine the description for multiple categories.
Not using these tags is why a hosted gallery linked by 500 webpages still doesn't get listed high in the search engines.

It's extra work but consider that I have over 25k galleries in my database from maybe 50 sponsors. Multiply my effort to write those descriptions by all the other webmasters doing the same and that's a lot of wasted man hours from the industry as a whole.

But who cares about a standard, just put something in the gallery html that would make sense to a search engine and I'll work around it.

Yes, I know some sponsors can dump gallery links with descriptions, but many didn't have that months ago when I first got the galleries and going back and getting 25k galleries is not going to happend plus remeber that it helps your galleries get listed in the SE if you use keyword tags and title that mean something.

good idea. just curious how many sponsors aren't tied up enough with 2257 to change this on their hosteds.
