Cinderella Man - It's a Must See

It's one of the best movies I've seen in a really long time. See it. Now.

boxofficeguru.com:

An extraordinarily high 98% of those polled rated the PG-13 pic "excellent" or "very good" so long-term playability seems strong, especially since there are so few films this month targeting its core audience. Critics gave much praise to Cinderella Man.

A must-see!

Yeah, I can't wait to see it. Russell Crowe seems infallible. Every movie he stars in seems to turn to gold. What was his last film? The one about the 1800s ship where he plays the Captain..."Master & Commander: The Far Side Of The World." And before that there was "A Beautiful Mind" which won Best Picture. Pretty good track record.

MILLION DOLLAR BABY wasn't really overhyped. There was hardly any promotion for MDB. Clint Eastwood coudln't even get his usual movie studio Warner Brothers to finance it. It was shot on a low budget, and it was fan reaction that created the great word of mouth that it deserved. Films like MDB just aren't made very often. It certainly deserved Best Picture, Director, Actor, Supporting Actor that it recieved.

All of the hype, including word of mouth and the awards it won was overhype for me. It was an above average film, but it mostly relied on cheap tricks to make it a tear jerker.

Russell Crowe's track record lately:

The Insider (1999) .... Dr. Jeffrey Wigand (nominated for Best Actor--Oscars)
Gladiator (2000) .... Maximus (WON for Best Actor--Oscars)
A Beautiful Mind (2001) .... John Nash (nominated for Best Actor--Oscars)
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) .... Capt. Jack Aubrey (should have been nominated)
Cinderella Man (2005) .... Jim Braddock (WILL BE nominated for Best Actor--Oscars)

Is there any doubt he is one of the finest actors living today?
