Probably a dumb 2257 question but I'll ask anyways
I am reworking my affiliate program and have been waiting to see what solutions were figured out to deal with this whole 2257 thing. As a sponsor that shoots my own content can I host all the galleries and any promotional material my affiliates use and then be the only one responsible to have all my id's and paperwork in order?
I am not sure if this is a decent idea to keep from sending out all the id's and stuff if I just make sure I host anything from my own server that is promoting my sites. Please let me know if this is a idea I should work on setting up or just another one of my dumb ideas.... Thanks... Payton |

Depends, if they add a text link to the gallery than they're ok. But if they add the content to their own site, even by hotlinking....I believe they are responsible for keeping the records under the new regs. My armchair opinion

i also recommend you talk to your lawyer, but mine said hotlinking wouldn't help - the issue in the law is only about what you put on your site, not where it's sourced from.

You can host it all but if they show an image on their website they need 2257 docs. You can, however, say that this is not allowed and anyone that does is in violation of your affiliate agreement. You could also go to promoting none hardcore and keep the hardcore just for your site where you know where the images are and have 2257 docs for. That would save you from having to send out models info.

I think a talk with a lawyer will be the best thing.
But the law says if you insert an image you are responsible. Your solution does not work. ![]() |
