Its called hijacking. Contact him and ask him to remove it, or you will contact Google and get him sandboxed.... sandboxed is blacklisted - the only thing peole like that fear

when did Google start caring about meta tags?

clubchics, unless you have your site's name as a registered trademark it isn't a question of legality. unethical yes.

Is your claim to ownership of the term in question valid? If so, according to what? Is is a trademark/slogan/etc?

You may not like it, but if you don't have legal claim to the term, you cannot even begin to defend it.

G advises webmasters filing complaints about other sites violating copyrights that if they find that the claims are unfounded, those webmasters will be billed the legal costs. They list one example where the bill was $100,000 to the complaining webmaster.

They also remind webmasters of 'fair use' aspect of copyright laws and suggest they be really sure they can prove violation before they get G involved.

It's a bummer, but that's where things are at.

Illegal!

Call the meta tag police! I know a guy that got 15 years for putting too many keywords in his tags.

if you have it trademarked you can always go the legal route, but for what it will cost, you need to ask yourself if it is worth it.
