Don't get the hype about episode III...

Saw the new Star Wars today... OK, it's better than episode II and MUCH better than episode I, but where is the magic from the first three films? I mean, the film didn't even get interesting until Anakin became Vader, and the opening scene was soooooooo booooring... Bleh.

The magic in the first two are where they will remain, in your childhood. That can never really be captured again.

Bingo.

There are movies that I saw as a kid that I absolutely love, but if I was just seeing them now for the very first time, I would laugh and think they were terrible. Goonies, Back to the Future, Willow, Big, Stand By Me, etc.

When you're a kid everything seems great and fantastic. As you grow older, you lose your excitement and innocence.

Just got home from seeing it, and the consensus here is that it was good, but could have been better. More could have been made of the Vader transformation - but at least it explained how 5ft 10 Anakin became 7ft Vader LOL

Well, we saw the DVDs of episode 4-6 recently and I still thought they were awesome... Those films have a magic feeling that is hard to describe when you are not a fluent english speaker ;) Episode III touched that feeling in brief periods, but couldn't seem to hold on to it...

the original films were way beyond their times, these new ones really aren't, they are at the level of the effects we see in almost every movie now.
