Hmmm...well since Vietnam we rolled over Grenada in about 5 1/2 minutes, kicked the Iraqi army out of Kuwait in the 90's and recently rolled our army right into Bagdhad in less time than it takes to get from Manhattan to Queens during rush hour.

Oh yeah, it took us a couple of weeks to take out Afghanistan too.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a few but I've made my point.

Contrary to popular belief we did not lose in Vietnam... we decided not to fight anymore. Any idea how many dead gooks there are compared to Americans?? Our military was not the problem in that war, it was the political leaders. If our generals were allowed to fight... history would tell a very different story.

The Russians fought the Afghanis for 8 yrs and then ran like little bitches.
America ran over them in two weeks or so.

Iraq supposedly had the 4th most powerful army in the world. We completely destroyed them twice.

Most of the bigger countries in Europe dislike us cause they are jealous little panzies, the others love us because we opposed the former Soviet Union, and a couple still stand by us because they know we dominate the world.

If politics were taken out of it and we let the generals fight, the US military could easily defeat any country on the planet with the exception of China. China would probably be difficult, but I don't think the US would lose.

US-led coalition forces kicked royal ass in Bosnia fairly recently, as far as wars go. Took control of the region and put the Serbs in their place pretty damned fast I'd have to say. It was done so fast in fact that no one has even mentioned it in this thread yet. :D

I was not going to reply to this thread, but had to becasue of this post.

1) If the US troops had of gone through Vietnam as the Generals wanted you would of been fighting the Chinese. This is what turned Korea into a stalemate.

2) The Russians had a different war to fight, the people were against them. The US were largely supported by the people.

3) Another idiot who believes what GWB tells him. Iraq had a shit army and if the US intelligence thought it was the 4th most powerful you are led by liars or fools. I prefer the first option, the second is too scary to think of.

4) Why do you thin Europeans dislike you? They just don't support you invading countries on lies.

5) If politics weree taken out of it you would be ruled by a militaty Junta. The Army works for the people in a Democracy.

American military history of the 20th century

1. World War 1 1914 - 1918:

Great Britian, France, Canada, Poland, etc slug it out from the start

President Dwight D. Eisenhower supported the creation of a counter-revolutionary alternative south of the seventeenth parallel.

5. U.S. Invasion of Grenada 1983:

Reagan Administration used force to combat what it considered hostile governments in the area. The Marxist, pro-Cuban governments of Bishop and Coard were eliminated and a regime friendly to American interests took over.

6. 2nd Persian Gulf war 1991:

Hussein accuses Kuwait on 17 July of oil overproduction and theft of oil from the Rumailia Oil Field. President Bush freezes Iraqi and Kuwatti assets. Sanctions are imposed but they prove to be just as costly, if not more so, to american economic interests.

I am Quebecoise and I have been living in France for several years.

There are two french proverbs:

1. To be happy you must hide.

Doesn't matter which side of the isle you sit on, its common knowledge that the democratic party has and will cut spending on the US military. Its no secret that countries that cant afford to "spend" along side the US or propser when I country is impotent in foreign relations desperately want the US to elect democrats to even the playing field of power. Hence, we get examples like the michael moore standing ovation in france and gay frenchmen calling US citizens pussies on porn message boards.

For moral purposes, we get world governments with agenda to keep its citizens in the dark about the power and agenda of the United States military.
Hence, we get all the US is evil and the US must cheat to win.




They dont like us invading counties? The only land we have ever asked for and kept outside our borders was the amount of land necessary to bury the men that died fighting to save those countries that couldn't fight.

The only reason the Vietnam war turned out the way it did is because of the same factor as to why the current Iraq waris lagging. That reason is that the US Army has to fight a war with the media looking over their shoulder. War is bad and war is ugly, and war should be avoided at all costs, however it is a necessary evil.
As far as the strength of the US Armed forces, only China today could challenge them in a conventional war, if you are thinking otherwise, then you are living in a "Mooresque Dream"

Well, the Iraq war was won/ is being won. Whichever way you want to look at it.

The Vietnam war was won on a military basis. However, politically it was lost by the American media and idiotic people who thought all that mattered was to smoke weed constantly instead of washing.

Canada does not need a huge military because it is of no use to them. If any nation wanted to invade Canada only one of two things can happen
a) The U.S. approves of the takeover and lets them roll over Canada
b) The U.S. disapproves the invasion and kicks the shit out of the invading nation
