Would probably be a better idea to use your current hosting companies back-up system. I'm sure they have a daily back-up service you can purchase.

So when their datacenter goes down he cannot use his backup? Kinda defeats the purpose.

The typical purpose of a back-up is for hard drive failure, not a data center "going down". Now if he's looking for a quick "switch" solution to move things if his hosting companies network has temporary problems, then sure he would need a solution with another company. But if thats the case, I have to ask... why would he trust a situation like that with the cheapest hosting company he can find?

ZipServers ROCKS.
Maybe the prices are a little bit higher than on managed.com , but their services are definitely GREAT!

you know i have thought of this also.

i have weekly backup on my service plan for boxes at webair, but have never had a failure to test it.

would be great to know if anyone had a HD failure at webair using their in-house backup service, and if so, how fast were you back on line?

I'd assume he'd use the cheapest he could find because his main host is extremely stable and this backup would rarely if ever get used. If his host did have network problems they probably wouldn't last long, and if they ever had a serious problem he'd probably get set up with a new primary host.

How about an ultralite from M3 Server. $49.00, managed, and you'll even have backups of your backups.

icq me: 129435880 w/ any questions.

would love to sell you a solution and i got some 50 dollar ones but get it backed up there. if you want to have your server duplicated and have them round robin and do geographic load balancing, hit me up. Oh yeah, thats not cheap, but it is a quality solution.
