Ccbill + Canada = No Go?

My first choice for transaction for my affiliate program is CCBILL... but now I just found out that they are unable to process VISA for Canadian-based business... you must either be located within the US or EU.

Does anybody know why they don't allow Canadians to process VISA or is there anyway around this?

maybe it's time to look for another third party processor?

It's a Visa regulation and it's not specific to CCBill. You and your business are supposed to be located in the Visa region that you're processing from. Since Canada is it's own processing region and Canadian banks are reluctant to process high risk transactions, we get the short end of the stick.

Email me at psyko514(a)gmail.com and you'll give you more details. Too lazy to type em all out now.

And here I was thinking that Canada was more liberal... I guess when it comes to business we're a lot more conservative

It's basically the way our banking system is setup. We have very few banks here compared to other countries.

Apparently, Moneris is willing to process for adult, but I'm unaware of any IPSPs who have a relation with them currently. I remember CCBill was looking for Canadian webmasters who'd be interested in a Canadian solution, however the monthly processing minimums required were high (IIRC) and they decided there wasn't enough interest.

seems like you are an expert in this field... i have a question for you.

would it be ok to setup a P.O Box in the states and register a business with that address? Since I only live about 10 minutes across the border.

Moneris is hit and miss really. You'll need a very good credit history and quite possibly lots of capital to "secure" the merchant account.

I'm far from an expert in it... I just have a good understanding as well as some background knowledge.

The above idea wouldn't work. It's a little more complicated then that, unfortunately.

Yep, I don't doubt that at all. I'm sure you also need a pretty high minimum volume as well.

I dont think volume matters all that much to them. Considering they handle just about every single debit/credit card system i see in stores i dont see them requiring huge volumes.

My partner is working on getting a merchant account with them as we speak since they turned me down...they didnt even want to take a security deposit from me. We said the processing would be 5-10k/month.. I'll let you know what the outcome is

LOL ... and they refused to process a general mainstream site selling an ebook of 250 pages ... I should have added a chapter where small girls get raped by priests ... Then it would have been OK...

Its practically impossible to build an ISO type relationship with Moneris. The canadian banking system is a PITA to say the least for processing adult.

If you can't find what you are looking for in 3rd party processing, let me know and I'll discuss merchant account options with you. BTW - Its not necessary to have large volumes.

It should be noted that while questionable at the least, the sites are non-nude and not child porn. Most of the large processors have processed for similar sites in the past.

Having said that, I'm personally against these types of sites myself. From what I've heard, MVC is actively phasing out processing for these types of sites.

Processing with CCBill isn't as simple as registering a corp in Delaware for $200.

To be honest, no, as I don't feel it's my place to do so. I'm neither a legal expert nor a processing expert, so any thing I say might be inaccurate or outdated.

But, to the best of my knowledge, what I said is correct. I'd suggest doing a search on the board as this topic has been covered many times and there have been several detailed and helpful threads.
