Thank Al Gore for the Internet
I've said it before, if it wasnt for Clinton and Gore the Internet would not exist today as we know it and most of you kids would be making a living picking up dog shit in your neighbors yard.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7746308/ NEW YORK - Al Gore may have been lampooned for taking credit in the Internet's development, but organizers of the Webby Awards for online achievements don't find it funny at all. In part to "set the record straight," they will give Gore a lifetime achievement award for three decades of contributions to the Internet, said Tiffany Shlain, the awards' founder and chairwoman. "It's just one of those instances someone did amazing work for three decades as congressman, senator and vice president and it got spun around into this political mess," Shlain said. Vint Cerf, undisputedly one of the Internet's key inventors, will give Gore the award at a June 6 ceremony in New York. "He is indeed due some thanks and consideration for his early contributions," Cerf said. Gore, who boasted in a CNN interview he "took the initiative in creating the Internet," was only 21 when the Internet was born out of a Pentagon project. But after joining Congress eight years later, he promoted high-speed telecommunications for economic growth and supported funding increases for the then-fledging network, according to the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which presents the annual awards. He popularized the term "information superhighway" as vice president. |

Al Gore's responsible for the Internet the same way that Clinton's responsible for the Internet bubble and the resulting economy boom. THEY'RE NOT!
Both of those chucklheads just happened to be sitting in the right seat, at the right time. Clinton got re-elected because all of us and tens of thousands of other geeks were out there busting our asses to make the Internet and telecom happen as they have. Then Clinton stepped up and said "Y'all like all 'dat money? Thank me! I sho 'nuff da one 'dat made it happen for ya!" Gore just thought he could ride those coat tails into office and Thank Krishna...he failed. That pussy probably would've called a drum circle and "Kumbaya" after 9/11. As far as Gore and his webby, he's just trying to justify another run in 2008 by taking down the objections one at a time. He didn't vote for those bills or do anything procative becuase he thought it was the right thing to do. That's not how politics or politicians work. He got PAID to vote this way or that, based on campaign contributions, comped trips, "gifts"...on and on. Then, it just so happened that his voting record showed that he said yes or no on things that helped advance the Internet. So, the $500/hr consultants he's got scowering his record to help advance his liberal agenda found this little tid bit and now they're trying to spin it into something else to tell the press. Democrats, Republicans...doesn't make a difference. They're all just liars, lying and scammers, scamming trying to make another million and another powerful friend. We're all just peasants fighting over bread crumbs.

Bill Gates is the one who brought the Intenet to the masses.
Anyone see the Internet before M$ got into it? It was horrible.

Learn the truth before you go spouting off right wing bullshit. Gore co-sponsored the legislation that created defensenet, a project that military computers and later grew into the worldwide web. He was pretty much the "Alpha Geek" in the senate from the early 80's, sponsoring and promoting internet related legislation and helping remove the legal obstacles to make the modern internet possible. Vint Cerf, a senior vice president with MCI Worldcom who's been called the Father of the Internet, has said "The Internet would not be where it is in the United States without the strong support given to it and related research areas by the Vice President in his current role and in his earlier role as Senator." The inventor of the Mosaic Browser, Marc Andreesen, credits Gore with making his work possible. He received a federal grant through Gore's High Performance Computing Act. The University of Pennsylvania's Dave Ferber says that without Gore the Internet "would not be where it is today." Joseph E. Traub, a computer science professor at Columbia University, claims that Gore "was perhaps the first political leader to grasp the importance of networking the country. Could we perhaps see an end to cheap shots from politicians and pundits about inventing the Internet?" But you know more than these people, dont you. |

Take a look at John Ashcroft, then take a look at John Kerry. Look at the party histories and platform. There's a difference, and not knowing what it is doesn't make you wise or above it all, it just makes you lazy. |
