$10,000.00 that doesnt exist in europe. You would write it like that:

$10'000.00 or $10'000,00

its funny when i see people write stuff on their website like "we have 10,000 full-length videos inside our members area" .. cause that would mean you have 10 in there

No, because the site is written in English, not "Euro-trash"

$10.000,00 means $10k in Holland. They don't use $10'000.00. Please don't generalize Europeans.

If I wrote out a check for $10,000.00 and handed it to you I am damn sure it would exsist then. It is not like a bank would look at it and try to give you $10.00
I do not use many forms of other correncies but I sure in the hell would understand and see them for what they are, without questioning if they exsist.

As for when people write stuff on their websites. You should stick to words anyways since Ten Thousand pictures looks a lot more impressive that 10,000 pictures. Or worse yet 10,000.00 and really confuse the hell out of the americans.

when i bring my cheques to the bank they are looking where the comma or where the point is. Then they check where the cheque is from. Never had any problems getting my $$$

but when i use my online banking and you tell me i can buy your site for $10.000 and i type it in there ... you would receive $10

In Denmark we write 10K like this 10.000
10,000 would be 10

youre lost. 10.000 is 10k cuz of the 3 zeros. In normal life you dont get 3 decimals after the comma/dot, nobody would think when u write down 10.000 you mean 10. Thats ridiculous!

I think some countries in Europe just leave an extra space b/n the zeros, e.g.
10 000 = 10k
10 000 000 = 10 million etc

ok, now I'm confused too

The standard, universally accepted way is to use a comma thusly....

$10,000 = Ten thousand
$10,000.00 = Ten thousand

But...
$10.000 would be instantly flagged at my bank and before money was transfered you would be asked to verify the amount. That tells me that it is pretty stupid to try and change a working system.

And all that apostrophe shit..... forget it. $10'000? please.

Put it this way..... if people in other countries want to write it their own different way that's their problem, not mine. As far as I'm concerned (and the banks I deal with) there is only one way to write monetary amounts. The right way.

Argue all you want.

If you can't tell the difference between $10.00 and $10.000 you have problems.

I think you're confusing Switzerland with Europe.

Switzerland is the only country I know of where people use $10'000.

I was thinking much the same. The comma version for example is still often used in the UK although more a relic from imperial measurement days rather than being technically correct now.

Oh and Sandman - fuck all to do with him being a newb. Sending UK traffic to a dialler IS very stupid and loses more than it makes.

$10,000 means Ten Thousand
$10,000.00 means Ten Thousand
$10.000 means Ten Dollars (I've never written anything like this because it would it could/would be confused with $10k)
$10.00 means Ten Dollars

That's how I always understood it. In North America, the value is dependent on where the decimal is placed.

,000 .000 always make a thousand. Dates are sometime confusing 05/10-2005 - 10/05-2005
Except for today.

In many (most?) European countries
$10.000,00
$10.000,-
$10.000
means ten thousand dollars

$10,00
$10,-
$10
means ten dollars

I seriously doubt that. Every bank knows that different formats are used in different countries. They might flag it if the transfer comes from North America but if they flag it for a transfer from Europe I would change banks
