I know most of you are aware of this scam already but this guy is almost pretty good. The idea is to show interest in your domain and then ask for an appraisal to be sure of the domain value. Ofcourse, the appraisal service used is either owned by him or he gets paid commission. He then tells you he is not interested. In this case the appraisal costed $59.

Here are my emails with him:

Do you sell a developed site or just domain name? If you don't have a site
it's not a problem. I'm mostly interested in domain names without content.


Do you have an appraisal of your domain? I need an appraisal certificate for
domain priced in your range. Domain name is an investment for me. I'm going
to sell your name later and make a profit. If I overpay I won't be able to
make a profit in the future. So I need to know the current market value of
your name. I guess your are also interested in getting this figure.

Please note that I don't trust free or cheap appraisals. So we cannot
accept appraisal from each and every site.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies
in a forum.

Notice - Domaintalk is a domain forum, he used it as a subdomain to try to trick people, When you go there he says he recommends alldomains.com for the appraisal which is a extremely reputable domain registrar. When you click the alldomains.com link it takes you to www.allfordomains.com whom I believe he has association with

He is pretty smart, a lot of people probably fall for this. Look at his fake forum showing how people recommend allfordomains.com and also greatdomains.com (which most domainers know of as a reputable company)
