![]() What do you do if?
You sell licensed, non-exclusive content. Jow Schmoe buys a content set and gives a copy of it to his friend, we'll call him Webmaster B. You discover your content is published on a URL which has not paid for it or is not among the registered domains allowed to publish it. You get your lawyer to send a cease and desist? How much does that cost? What else can you do? Then let's say Webmaster B tells you to fuck off and he doesn't take the content down. His domain is hosted in Romania and his address is listed as 12345 The Czech Republic. Also... Can't webmasters put your content in multiple URL members areas that they haven't paid for? See where I am going with this? |

Throw that by your lawyer..you will get mixed results here..my guess is 200 for the initial consultation with a lawyer or free in some cases.Sometimes it isn't worth the bullshit but consider it a price of doing business

A guy who does what you propose is just as likely to go into a paysite and download everything rather than buy it from a content producer.
Easiest thing is to send an email to his server, a C & D does not cost anything like $1500. You can even do it yourself. The biggest problem is with sponsors who do nothing to stop these people signing up as affiliates and AVS systems. Some, to me, seem so desperate for the business they will just let it happen again and again. You catch a guy, they tell you they are too big to police their affiliates, but will throw the pirate out and two weels later you find him there again still working. |

I'd like to hear some first hand accounts.
What actions have you taken as a content producer when you discover that your content is being used and not paid for or without a license etc? |
