PartyPoker is the biggest...

piece of shit, cheating asshole, poker room ever!

in 3 hours of playing I saw 2 straight flushes, 3 sets of quads, and other totally outrageous hands.

$65 down the shit tubes

Never again, only the real deal from now on.

PartyPoker

I've lost around 2k on PP.
The reason why is when you play 2/4 or 3/6 you get TONNNSSSSS of fish. Play 5/10 or 10/20 and you don't. I am doing well on 5/10.

Why would party poker cheat?
They have over 58,000 players playing right now...I don't know what the average rake per hand is but let's just say $1.00 for fun.
That's $50,000 x's 40-60 hands per hour.
Why would anyone mess that up to juice up pots that don't need juiced up?

Yeah the "schooling effect" can be detrimental.
Plus there are tons of "internet pros" who multi table the $3/$6 right now...and they know how to play those loose tables.

All I am saying is that the hands/outcomes of PartyPoker compared to playing at a casino is completely different, I've seen a straight flush once, and never quads, in over 18 hours of playing in a real game and I saw 2 straight flushes, and 3 sets of quads in a matter of 3 hours while playing online. It's just not real

I'll tell you two important secrets of party poker (and all online poker places for that matter):

1 - You are playing way more hands per hour than you would in person. The number of bad beats you see per hour / bad hands per hour needs to be qualified by the number of hands per hour you are playing. In a real casino, you be lucky to get 20 -25 hands an hour. PP you can get 50-70 if things move along nicely at a full table. twice the hands means twice the bad beats per hour.

2 - limit holdem tends to lean more towards straights, flushes, and such because it is much harder to bet someone out of a hand. Say you have a pocket pair and flop the trip. In NL you might work pretty hard to push other people out of the hand. But in limit, if you opponent has higher suited and flops even 1 more card, then might stay for the turn. If the turn comes in their suit, they will stay for the river, and so on. Good hands in NL are NOT the same good hands in limit poker.

For the record, I do much better at NL then I do at limit. I only play limit to fill time and catch the bonuses, otherwise it is break even or slight loser for me.

Alex

I saw 2 royal flushes in less than 24 hours playing live.

Alex brings two important points, but also online poker, not just partypoker is based on a random card generator. So take the odds of 4 of a kind, its 1 in 4600 or something close to that. I assure you playing real cards the odds of seeing that dealt ever 1 in 4000 is small, but when the cards are randomly computer generated it will happen every time...

I have played live poker since about 92' and online for about 5years and there is a real difference, but a good player will reconize and understand how to play those differences. Just like the difference between a lose and tight table...

Partypoker is abit of a learning curve, from real playing but you can also make alot bank very easy! Where else are you going to find thousands of fish in one place? As a tip, I suggest if you want to make money at PP, you should play tourneys, not cash games...

People also confuse online play with real life face-to-face play (not so much being specific to this thread, just generalising). The two are VERY different beasts.

I have been playing the free area at party poker for awhile just to basically learn how to play and practice. Well I started thinking of maybe getting into real money on there and make it interesting when I started talking to a guy at work who said he has several computers at home and he just gets together with his buddies and they all sit at one table so there are 3-5 of them which makes it much easier to beat everyone else.
I was just wondering if this is pretty common and really makes it not worth playing for real money if tons of people are cheating you most of the time.

That happens sometimes but like anything, you can see the pattern and you can move on. with 60,000 plus players online, it isn't hard to move on to something else more productive. Plus if you feel that this is truly happening, just contact the help line WHILE you are playing and ask them to review the table. If they find multiple players from the same IP, they will take very rapid action.

I would like to comment on what Eros said;

why they would cheat?

Running house bots is very lucrative, that way they will make so much more they will do per raked hand.

Oh, one more thing; Partypoker is currently under investigation about these house bot suspicions.

Inside info.

LOL..."Inside Info" eh?

Right...wanna borrow my tin foil hat while we're at it.
And once again..they are making a ton of cash per raked hand as it is..why do they need to juice up the pot even more?
There are currently 58,000 people playing of which about 50,000 are idiots who call all the way to the river..the rake limit is met more often than not.

I'm sure it's done...but there are things Party Poker does to try to keep this from happening.
If you suspect anything notify them of the table and they will investigate.
Collusion also happens in live poker too.
But if people are doing it in low limits it's a waste of time.

Even on $1 tables, you are looking at making rake on about 60-70% of hands... I easily cleared a 200 hand requirement in the past in less than 3 hours. I don't think I could get 200 hands in half a day in vegas!
