I'll tell you two important secrets of party poker (and all online poker places for that matter):
1 - You are playing way more hands per hour than you would in person. The number of bad beats you see per hour / bad hands per hour needs to be qualified by the number of hands per hour you are playing. In a real casino, you be lucky to get 20 -25 hands an hour. PP you can get 50-70 if things move along nicely at a full table. twice the hands means twice the bad beats per hour.
2 - limit holdem tends to lean more towards straights, flushes, and such because it is much harder to bet someone out of a hand. Say you have a pocket pair and flop the trip. In NL you might work pretty hard to push other people out of the hand. But in limit, if you opponent has higher suited and flops even 1 more card, then might stay for the turn. If the turn comes in their suit, they will stay for the river, and so on. Good hands in NL are NOT the same good hands in limit poker.
For the record, I do much better at NL then I do at limit. I only play limit to fill time and catch the bonuses, otherwise it is break even or slight loser for me.
