So whats gone one?
He gained 3 seconds a lap since the last race?? Impossible! And how did he go from fastest last season to 3 seconds slower anyways? A lot more going on with F1 than they care to tell.

not everyone adapted as good to the new rules Bernie Ecclestone wants to slow down the race and thus its normal that the laps are slower , and like I said, some teams adapted better (faster) to the new regulations and thus perform better, you dont have to be a genius to figure that out ..... |

That was one fo the most exciting races I have seen in F1 for quite some time. Schumi's move on Button was awesome. The last 12 laps, I was really expecting him to do something stupid, and punt both Alonso and himself off, but he just pressured him as much as possible, and took the first points of his season for second place.
Although Renault is rocking, many teams are looking tough this year - even Toyota(finally) |

Was this on CBS only? I didn't see it on Speed and my TiVO didn't grab it either.

Yeah, ferrari is definitely back in the fight to win races. But they still lack pace a little bit and have a big deficit to overcome. Ain't gonna be like like 2002-04, that's for sure.

Ferrari are one of the few teams to run Bridgestone tires, almost everyone esle is running Michelins. The Michelin tires have been excellent this season. Ferrari had to test like crazy the past month, attempting to catch up to all the other top teams. They cleaim they are at a disadvantage, being the only top team running Bridgestones, and that is the reason they declined to honor the testing limitations that every other F1 team has agreed to this season (in an effort to curb the ridiculous costs of operating an F1 program). Of course, if Ferrari were to switch to Michelin, they wouldn't be behind the eightball, running Bridgestone. And with all the new regulations introduced to curb speeds, the cars are still faster than last year. The only way they'll slow them down is to use a control tire - but that requires one tire manufacturer - and Ferrari is tied into Bridgestone. They'll never agree to it. |

Fucking awesome race has to be one of the best F-1 races in a long time. Gotta give Alonso his props he did one hell of a drive to hold Schumacher off. But damn I'm glad to see the Ferrari back in top again.. 14th to 2nd is not a bad drive at all, reminds me why I like Schumi so much.. the man has raw talent.

I'm all for high tech, but the sport has gotten to be out of control with the costs. Too many teams are tied in with manufacturers, and those companies cannot continue to blindly dump massive amounts of money into the sport at this pace. And they already restrict the technology of the cars - I think the most advnaced F1 cars were from the period of '93-'95, when they had the active suspensions, and the electronic transmissions - those Williams cars were pretty insane. |

the bridgestone tires at imola were freakin awesome..they get better as they wear, which is why schu seemed slow for the first quarter of the race. He was eventually going 2+ seconds per lap faster then the rest, and if it wasnt for a ton of traffic (and button) slowing him down he would have probably passed alonso.
He's gonna be dominating again come spain. His mistake in quali cost him a sure win. |

Definately an awesome race, was nice to see schumacher back on the pace, but also was good to see Alonso drive with such confidence. He's got a lot of talent, and similar to Shumi, has that unflappable attitude when under attack.
I thought the look on Schumacher's face during the driver's comments after the race spoke volumes in that he knows that even if they (Ferrari) get their package together enough to make a challenge, that if he has to fight from behind, Alonso is no pushover. Also, was good to see Jaques make a decent showing, what with all the speculation about him being replaced. Thomas |
