If you run trading sites, you're fucked

I've known about this thing happening for long, always suspected a few trades for doing it. Looks like someone outside adult made an effort and documented it:

I bet youre really proud you just found out about trojans and make a topic title like you just did.

If they would be fucked because of this this wouldve happened 5 years ago already.

I'm not proud, I'm just trying to make the life easier for webmasters who run trading sites, like I do. I'm sure you get a kick out of posting crap just to up your worthless postcount, but please, this is a serious thread, get the fuck out of it.

1. How do you know who's a dishonest bastard? Some of the worst cheaters I've busted were the nicest people on ICQ.
2. What if the honest ones you trade with will pass on the hitbot traffic to you?

The amount of cheaters in this scene is getting higher and higher. On my tgps 95% of the submissions i get change after the submission or "skim" (like an x amount of traffic goes to a dialer or something).
Its so lame, but unfortunally it is very hard to do something against it... only list your own galleries helps.

Now this is something else, i think the oly solution is to pick your own trades through icq etc and friends and not have an open signup for for trades at your tgp.

Still then you can get affected of course..

Bloody amazing that someone posts info which will be a heads up for some who are already being botted and a warning to others to take some precautions, and the main reaction is smart-ass sig placements...

I'd say if the sponsors took a stand and didn't allow traffic from sites running exploits, it would be a great start. Still, many sponsors will pay you to run exploit-like toolbars and other shit...

That's only a partial solution. Check out the sites in "tlist.dat" that this one guy is botting... there are several there big enough that their traffic gets everywhere.

I'm not enough of a coder to know whether this particular bot can go more than one level deep, but there are plenty around which can. Thanks to them, although you can avoid the worst effects by picking your trades carefully, you still end up trading bot traffic. You get it from honest trades and pass it on just as innocently.

Yes you are right, the traffic can go over multiple trades... so you should trade with sites that are honest and also trade with honest sites
but hey thats hard to find and make sure they are honest...
its all sad

I'm finding this very hard to implement as well. A month ago or so a bunch of us posted info on here and we help bust a big MGP cheater league. Or at least so we thought. I see BIG sites still trading with them, many people unaware about the fact that they're cheaters. I see people trading big with sites that trade big with the cheaters. They argue that they don't get hitbot traffic that way. Well, guess what, they're helping the hitbotters stay up, if they trade with sites which they hitbot, since those sites still have legit traffic which the cheaters can suck away.

Well, it's not impossible, nothing is impossible. But if we, the webmasters, are to do this alone, without any support from sponsors, it sure as hell is hard to do. It'd take a hell of a long time to contact ALL trades EVERY time some new fucking cheater comes around... One of my clients was seriously considering blocking all Russian IP's, since 99% of the cheating webmasters who sign up for trades originate from Russia. I've always been tolerant towards people and thought everyone deserves a fair chance, but with so few honest Russian webmasters, I'm starting to think his idea wasn't so bad after all. It'd sure as hell save me a lot of headache...

They're also wrong. If the hitbot hasn't been written by a 5yr old it'll certainly be going deep enough to visit their site and in all probability sites they trade with too. Have to love the idiots who can't see the wood for the trees.

Still - at least your intelligent enough to know about it so you can avoid many of them. Pain in the ass though.

Some, if not many, sites with a public counter pretty much only care on the amount of hits they get so that they can rank higher on the counter list and maybe sell links/ads. They dont care if they are being hitbot and as long as it is not too noticeable and doesn't decrease their traffic, they will continue to trade with these sites that have sophisticated bots......

The trojan/virus/spyware/whatever hitbots those sites and possibly the hitbot traffic gets passed onto the trades, hence affecting your site.

What sucks is my domain is on that list so I'm being blacklisted all over the place, but the day they began hitbotting me, I put them in .htaccess so they have never been able to reach the site again.
