[sad thread] my 14 y.o. dog died today

so life sucks again.
life looks like a stick with 2 ends, where 1 end is a beginning and 2nd one is the ending.
its hard to tell good bye to a friend thats been there.
dogs often become a member of the family, a kind of child that never grows up, so its really sad to see them go.
he was 14, and started couching hardly. He was very alive and been moving around, but couch at nights kept my mother awake all night long. Last year he had the same problem, but I went over and bought expensive medicine.. Doc said that he won't last long tho'. It helped but not for long.
So I played a role of God today, and it sucked.
Don't know why I'm telling you this now. Probably because this shows that pets don't make long plans they simply live. Maybe we should too?

i know exactly how you feel, im 18 and my cat who was 15 died a few weeks ago. She was probably the "person" i spent most time in the company of, she slept in my room, she was most definately a member of the family. Ignore anyone who says that "its only a pet", they are just ignorant.

The other day I called out to my dog and he didn't move. I went up to him and shook him and nothing. I was so worried. Then I shook him again and said get up! And he woke up. Wow, what a relief that was. He must have been in some deep sleep. Lazy fucker! I'd hate to see him go though.

I feel for you man. Dogs are second to none.

Very sad to hear about your loss. I know what kind of love it takes to make the choice that you had too, and I know how long it can take to heal... It's not the answer for everyone, but I find replacing the pet within a week helps. It never lessens the pain or love of the old pet, but it is a nice way to get a new beginning started sooner rather then later, and as always... save your new friend from certian death by getting them at the pound. Older animals make great pets, and are hard to place, so I always adopt the seniors.

sorry about your dog.

although the idea of getting a new dog is hard, a puppy might help you a lot. And don't worry about what your dog would think, wouldn't he have loved to have a puppy around?

Sad news

However, i tell this story to most people who have had to get their pet put down. I had a cat for 14 years. This cat slept in my room every night, followed me around the house, and trusted me.

I expected the way i lost cat would be to get her put down when she was too old. I didn't look forward to that day, but knew i'd have to do it eventually.

However, i never got that chance. She was killed by two fucking morons who live around here, i wont even go into detail about what they did.

If i had the chance to go back and change things so that her life ended the way i thought it would, i would grab that chance like hell.

I guess my point is, although things may seem like shit now, be glad of the years you had with the dog, and also be greatfull he died peacefully...
