In the process of Turkey's integration in the EU, the European Union demands the official recognition of the Armenian Genocide and establishment of relations with Armenia." The resolution is awaiting consideration in the Senate.

With this resolution, Poland became the 9th State of the European Union to do so, after Cyprus, Greece, Belgium, Sweden, Italy, France, Slovakia, and the Netherlands.
