Adult Friend Finder's GEO ad's are great, But I gotta remove them :(

Their Geo Advertisements are slowing down the loading time of my web-site..

Is there any way around this?

Yeah, they have some real traffic overload problems there. My stats went haywire for a few days, then the login page was unaccessible, etc., etc., etc.,..

for some browsers a slow loading iframe can actually halt the loading of the rest of the page until it's loaded.

They should set up the web-site(s) on multiple servers to share high-volume traffic loads.

There are a couple of things you can do.

One if you are getting the banners from www.banners.adultfriendfinder.com/... switch to banners.adultfriendfinder.com/...

The other is to place the geo ads on a different HTML file and put that file into an iframe on your desired page to display our geo ad. This way your page and the geo ad in the iframe can load at the same time.

Our affiliates should know that it is our main priority right now to speed up our sites. We have already removed some bottlenecks within the last month and have seen an improvement in load speeds. We still have work to do but in short time our affiliates will start to see a faster, better converting AFF.

No offence, but whatever you've done to "speed" things up has been a dismal failure. Today is a perfect example of just how poor of a job has been done in getting this fixed. It doesn't help that the most you have posted is .. we spent millions buying machines, we are fixing it, honest, it is priority A #1!. It's been months dude, give us a bone here.

It's not as easy as it seems. We aren't just buying one or two more servers we are setting up many new server cages, swapping out older slower hardware, doubling our bandwidth, and improving code in places that will improve load speeds.

My point is this can't all be done overnight. Well yes if we want to turn everything off for a night. Instead we are opting to make careful planned out changes that require 5 minutes or less of downtime. (In many cases no down time at all.)

It's not an easy task for our programmers and system administrators. Since our merger with StreamRay, Lars has stepped in to help Andrew (our founder and CEO) run our Marketing and Affiliates departments. This has freed Andrew's time to work with our programmers and ease the work load off of our CTO who has now personally devoted 100% of his time to site speed improvements.

Sigh, like I said "we spent millions buying machines, we are fixing it, honest, it is priority A #1!.".

These problems started during Internext, literally 4+ months. I'd like to think I am being reasonable here, and not looking for miracles. Apparently 4 months isn't enough time to setup some machines, do a code review, and place an order with whatever bandwidth provider you've chosen.

I suppose your right though, it is pretty unreasonable to expect any large company to accomplish something in a timely manner.

Hint! There's other ways to load balance than round robin DNS.

Good luck but I hope you get fixed soon, once a great program to promote has turn into a no sales for days or sign ups. I just thought that I switched over to the geo marketing ads and to my surprise I live a wealthy zip code only to be shown pix of ugly things (I mean men and women that look diseased) and in my area I wouldn't venture in. Without geo marketing, when I do a search at least I get members that look normal. Change most of my links to traditional ads but on a 56k modem I wouldn't wait for your page to load.

Like I said I hope you get this worked out soon.
