Stopping the contests is gonna hit our industry HARD.

This is gonna seriously cut into some people's revenue. Sadly, more than if Visa and M/C stopped processing adult.

How are the "Webmasters" from GFY gonna recover?

Actually, if you really want a GOOD idea on how to run a contest, make it have to have a POINT. Something like Steve Lightspeed's contest here. http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...tspeed+ girls

It wasn't about who posted the 500th reply. There was actually some guessing involved, so it was fun. I didn't participate to pad my postcount OR to win the money. More because it started to piss me off that I couldn't get it right. :winkwink:

This was the most I've ever posted in a contest thread, and yes I did try to win. But, Steve also was given directions on where to send the money and it wasn't to me.

He changed to spideriux or whatever because he was busted chatting with himself to win the contest.

Personally, I think contests should be like pinned threads... open to only those who are advertisers... and only for a limited time, like a week... none of this "from now till July 1st" crap. The threads stay around for WAY to long.

And then on top of that, only allow one at a time. Perhaps even make it a pinned or something.

1 thread at a time, for a week (maybe 2) at a time and only for paid advertisers.

This way there's never too much going on at once and we get to see something new from time to time.

Juicy D. Links 04-20-2005 10:51 AM

Which sponsors want me to run contests for em?

LMK JDL Publicity is ready to roll.

Screaming 04-20-2005 10:52 AM

i saw a few that had many thousands of post in less then two months

If you only had one contest at a time, you wouldn't need to pin it. The kid from lithuania would keep it up top.

yeah, I know... just a kind of added bonus. I just figure that at least then those of us who ignore it would know exactly where it is, rather than finding it 5 posts down or 6 or even 10 late at night.

In all seriousness, they use the contest threads for announcments. Some announcments may be timely and not able to wait two or three weeks to start.

I have no idea how much a pinned thread cost, but if those guys keep running up thousands of posts in one day, it will be cheaper to buy extended pinned spots than give away contest cash.

The last contest pussycash did, they had to reload the cash because spideriux ended the money to fast.

It ended up costing them more than they planned because of the surfers.

The market will correct itself, the contests will go away without any rules.

I think all people who signed up in 2005 can't post in contest threads untill 2006.

Or, no contests.

Or, nobody is reading what I write.

Simple.
