You've been with a girl for 3 years, moved out to where she lives from across the country to be with her about 2 years ago, and now your job requires you to move to Houston about 3-4 days away by car.

If you wait 3 months, she can come with you, but job responsibilities are hard to keep up with without being local, job is a high salary and high influence position. Nicely Over 6 digits a year. If you dont move, you wont get fired but it will be looked down upon greatly, and you wont feel like you are completing your job the best you could and not acheiving the goals you have set forth professionaly.

If you leave now, and tell her that she will have to hang out on her own for 3 months, and you might come back every 2-3 weeks for the weekend, etc but you are running an 85% risk that she will break up with you. She will also be extremely pissed off.

WHAT would you do?

Pay yourself first. At the end of the day, what's more important to you: A girl that is ready to leave you if you can't be around every waking moment, or your career? Only you know the answer to that one.

This is an internet based company, but I am high up on the ladder, and responsibilities have me needing to be on site to watch over staff and make sure work orders are completed timely. etc etc

I had the oppurtunity to move to England once for a higher profile job working with a "celebrity" type person, more money, yada yada yada.. I turned it down because of friends and wife... Wife is gone.. friends have moved on.. One of the stupidist decisions I ever made.

. to many people say they LOVE eachother these days but they do not know what love is, my parents lived apart for 10 years while i was younger faithfully because they knew it was worth it for family.

people these days just dont understand true values, if you are already questioning it, it is 99% of the time not worth it.

There aren't that many coorporate jobs that pay 6 figures a year, was just wondering what is? It's not like it's a huge secret that your profession is X.

for me it's pretty cut and dry. If she is willing to move there with you in three months then you and she can suck it up for three months. You will see each other a few times on weekends during that time so it won't be that bad. If she can't stand to be apart from you for that short of time and would want you to turn down a great opportunity because she can't be apart from you for a few months then clearly she doesn't care about your future and is only thinking about herself.

I would take the job.

i moved 200 miles away initially from my girl for company relocation, etc...... she would drive up every weekend to see me, for about 6 months. after that she moved in with me... was rough at first, but things have been gettin better.

I would stay with the girl, but thats just me. Do what is going to make you happy in the long run.
