what you should do is do a daily scan while you shower or take a shit or something. Low cpu usage and best antivirus don't really go together. All the hack3rs use kaspersky

Avast. turn two of the services off and it uses hardly any cpu.

Norton has been bloated for ages, but is overall pretty stable and of course popular. I personally use AVG but have found Nod32 to have been the easiest on my machine.

I recently tried pc-cillin.. and I have to say that it is the worst piece of shit software I have ever had the pleasure of using. Nothing like having your system freeze up for a few seconds while it decides to do something. And the random crashes!! Funny.. even after uninstalling that steaming pile of stinking crap I can't install norton again.
