If DD is a genuine third degree BB in GJJ, then Kimbo will go down. I really wish there was a way we could verify this. I guess seeing as Anthony has offered to train with him, he'll be able to find out without divulging DD's real name to the rest of the world, which is an obvious concern of his.

It's never too late, and frankly at our ages, it's the only aerobic excercise I get, since I haven't been getting laid on a frequent basis. :winkwink:

I think everyone's giving Kimbo too much credit. At most you've seen 2 of his fights and he lost one.

Anyone with a serious knowledge of MMA will tell you that a guy like that is about 1/3 (or less) as lethal on the ground - and a serious MMA fighter could get him off his feet before taking a direct shot.

If Kimbo has little or no grappling experience his size won't be a factor and once he's on the pavement, mat, grass he's amost helpless against chokes, bars, guards, etc.

Take a look at the Pride fight, for example, where MMA fighter (ok, mostly a boxer) Bob Sapp - who is at least as big as Kimbo - fought 'Minotauro' Nogueira and was beat by an armbar. Nogueira is a LOT smaller than Sapp but wore him down, kept him on the mat and waited for his opportunity.

Now, the only question here is how skilled Dirty is and how he'll react if he's hit a few times before getting the big guy off his feet?

Kimbo has been training at the FFA in Miami with the Avellans. The Avellan Brothers are some of the best grapplers and trainers in Florida.

Do not use Bob Sapp as an example. One, he is bigger than Kimbo. Two, he fought the best Heavyweight BJJ fighter on the planet. There is no comparison. Sapp over 100 lbs heavier than Kimbo. Noguiera, the pride of BJJ, Danza, no one has heard of. Get the point?

The size disparity between Kimbo and DS is too great. DS will lose.

Last I saw Kimbo funny enough was in the Vip of China White. I asked him if he was training with the Avellans, his answer was, "Yeah I go down and take some classes." Nothing more or less.

Very laid back guy, not the beast everyone has been fed in the trailers and fights on the internet. Dare I say, a nice guy?

There's a reason Kimbo doesn't want the fight to go to the ground..and in his other fight his guys complained of knees and chokes...because the guy is a brawler..that's it.
He has power and with one punch could put anyone's lights out...but if a true BJJ fighter is able to use all of his weapons like the ones mentioned above Kimbo's chances are not slim...but they sure are not completely in his favor anymore.
Also if you look at the video of the indoor fight..you can see he's easily winded even just punching. Don't know if you have ever fought for sport...I did when I trained in JuiJitsu back when I wasn't morbidly obese...LOL..but keeping your arms up like that after awhile they start to weigh a ton.
Anyway...if it really does happen..and I don't know why anyone would want to do it...it will be interesting to watch.

Now that I've read the entire thread I've seen anthony's response about Kimbo training in grappling...that does step his game up quite a bit.

First, I respect your opinion but was merely showing an example - there are many, many more of "big guys" being owned by much smaller opponents. I don't know Danza from a hole in the ground so I should have avoided making any statements about his chances - instead sticking to a general idea on how Kimbo is beatable.

However, the size disparity can be removed on the ground. A good grappler who has "ground strength" can manipulate a much bigger foe who is not trained. You say Kimbo is training, but how much? How serious is he? How long? If it's only been a few months, he's far, far behind someone with years of experience.

As well, has he had any serious non-brawling fights?

Simpy put, there are too many questions about both fighters for anyone here to make such predictions like "he will lose". If you know Danza and you've seen Kimbo training or something recently, then fine, but guys laying money on 2 virtual unknowns (again, only 2 videotaped Kimbo fights doesn't show enough) is crazy.

Thank you for a well thought out response. At this time, I can only go with what information that is in front of me. Which is Kimbo can strike, and is working on his ground game. Teach that man how to Sprawl and Brawl, and that's trouble!

Sean Gannon, Kimbo's last opponent is an active MMA fighter. Golden Gloves Champion. He wasn't favored to win, but he did. Repeatedly during that fight. Calling that fight and saying one or the other is going to win would be folly. But people did anyway.

Let's fast forward to now and DD and Kimbo. There has been no proof that DD is a 3rd BB in BJJ. He's a virtual unknown with no tournament, ring, or cage fights. Hell, I've fought in 2 tournaments, and you can find video of me getting 2nd place in each one, how come we can't of a 7 year plus Brazillian Black Belt? Alledgely.

We do know that Kimbo can hit.

We do know that Kimbo is activelytraining.

We do know that DD hasn't trained in some time.

We do know that DD has sidestepped the BJJ BB question forever.

Where do you think I"m going put my money on?
