is it possible....and is there anything free...

its not free but get yourself ulead gif animator you can open the swf and save it as a gif

If you have the fla file you can export to gif right from the flash program itself.

you used to get a program with Flash called 'After Shock'. That was really good for saving the files in the format that you wanted them in.
