SE keywords and phrases / statistics

There are places on the net that have statistics on the frequency of keywords and phrases typed into search engines, I've seen them before but I'm buggered if I can remember where.

What I would really really really like is to type a phrase into a text box and then be told how often that word or phrase is searched for.

Can anybody post me a few url's

Thanks PJ

Only for searches performed on GoTo/Overture... still handy though.

Hmmm I'm not expecting this one to be the best.

Its very informative but a lot of the sentences have been abbreviated and it looks like they have a lot of "stop" words taken out, I'm trying to type things in like a newbie surfer would.

Try typing in "where can i find free porn" and have a look at the results.

I want to use this info for domain name ranking in google and since it barley has any stop words at all I need to be looking at unfiltered data. (google rocks its the only true search engine on the web)

One thing I am truly shocked about is the fact that "porn" is about 7 times more popular than "xxx" as a search word

".. about is the fact that "porn" is about 7 times more popular than "xxx" as a search word"

... you have to keep in mind that the numbers are based on OVERīs searchrequests. when an affiliate links to their searchresult pages, he more likely uses "porn" than "xxx" because the bids on the first one are higher.

3071369 porn - bid $0.3
2687904 sex - bid $0.19
298578 casino - bid $10.27

... most of their affiliates get a 40%-50% share, so on casion itīs almost $5 in the advertisers pocket.

Thanks for that info funkmaster now I'm even more confused

Google gives a lot of weight to the domain name , for example check out a search for "freeporn" on google and you will see freeporn.com about 10 links down the page with no title or description, it wouldn't even be found if google wasn't so generous with the domain name weight.

If its bookmark title was "freeporn" it would almost certainly be at the top of the page.

Just looking at the keyword search for these three words on Overture "porn , xxx , sex"

3071369 porn
2687904 sex
445036 xxx

Now if you ere to try to use this info to create a domain and web page for google you would be in for a bit of a shock.

Number of web pages found on google for the same keywords.

34,400,000 porn
24,100,000 xxx
79,100,000 sex

If you were to use the Overture results to build a page then you might decide to target the word "sex" because nobody is looking for "xxx" and it would be slightly easier to achieve than the word "porn"

When you look at the word density on google you could VERY easily end up making the wrong choice as the word "porn" is in fact a way easier target than "sex"

I hope your as confused as I am

Uhm dude... the overture inventory shows HOW MANY TIMES that keyword was searched by the surfers... while what you posted about google shows how many webpages (results) are for those keywords.

erm yes I know that I'm talking about it in the posts above

I'm trying to work out the best words to use in some domain names to get traffic from google but overture has remove so many stop words that the stats are useless because google does not remove the same stop words.

Another point I was trying to make was that when you look at the frequency of "words searched" they look pretty even however when you look at the web page density of the same words there is a massive difference and that will greatly affect your chances of being found.

The words "porn & sex" both get searched for fairly evenly but it would be a LOT harder to be found with with the word "sex" than the word "porn" on google.

Blooy confusing

Has anybody got any more SE stats links I can have a look at.

If you wanna know how many times people search for certain keyword phrases on Google, go here:

https://adwords.google.com/AdWords/main?cmd=Preview

Type in a fake ad and hit the CONTINUE button. Then type in all your keyword phrases and hit UPDATE KEYWORD ESTIMATES... That should display a table with all your keyword phrases and the average number of times those phrases are searched on each day.

You can download "good keywords" software. I think it is using overture and some more paid search engine databases. Hope it will work http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0...st-7-1.7107926

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet thanks guys

There's some real good info in these links but I'm going to leave them till tomorrow before I read them my poor brain has had the shit kicked out of it today trying to figure it all out.

I already know a fair bit about setting up web pages but putting a domain name into the equation changes things dramatically.

Hopefully I'll get it right the first time round and not have to waste any more money on feeder domains or have to wait months just to realize I fucked up.

Thanks PJ
