I'm well educated myself and I tend to disagree. While I agree that school is a must for 99% of the population if they want to be intelligent and successful, perhaps even 99.9%, some people don't need formal education. Some of the greatest minds of all time didn't go to high school, Einstein being the most glaringly obvious but he's no exception. One of the wealthiest men in Canadian history, Israel Asper, who was basically Canada's Rupert Murdoch with a little less evil, didn't go to college. It really depends on the person. If you're intelligent, you can get as good an education just by reading and traveling as you can in any school. Some of the best authors had little education. Anyway that's just :2 cents: .

A HS or College diploma isn't about being smart or what you learned. It's about finishing what you start, and about the ability to achieve a goal.

I can't tell you how many smart people I've worked with who weren't able to finish any project. They were useless even though they were smart. A degree, on whatever level, at least proves that you can set goals and follow through.

Finish the goal. Just because you believe that you are smart doesn't mean that you are wise.

Kindergarten was tough for me as well according to my parents, but high school was a breeze. Any one who quits school with a 4.0 GPA level is stupid since most schools below college level factor GPA with absences and participation. :)

I don't know about all of that, but I might quit my job at Kohls department store next week. It's an enlightening feeling to know that the things that are holding you back in life can be extracted without a bad side. When I sit at my computer, I learn more and make more money than I ever will in school. If I could honestly say to myself that school is what will make me a success in life, then I'd be lying because success is subjective. If I'm picking cans off of a street and happy while I'm doing it, I'm more successfull than any cocky porn webmaster with alot of cash and small dick.

With all due respect, you're being a dumbass. Go back to school, get your diploma and go to college. The breadth of knowledge and the social conditioning you will get is invaluable. I share a similar disillusionment with the typical 9-to-5, 2.3 kids, etc expectation, but you shouldn't let that keep you from being prepared in life. I have 5 degrees if you could majors and minors in undergrad and grad school, and I'm not using any of them...instead I'm doing something I taught myself. BUT I would never go back and make a different choice, because that well-rounded education HELPS me think outside the box. Just my 2 cents...

It's your life to live. Personally I say go back, honestly, do what makes you happy, if you fuck up your life, then you'll only have yourself to blame. Not saying it will 100% fuck up your life, but just saying..if you do. its your fault and you will have to accept and live with all that entails till your dying day. Good luck to you.

I agree. Education is the best. School doesn't call for the best education though. Sometimes you can't let the system chose what is best for you.

No system can choose your destiny unless you allow it to. Education through traditional means does not make you a sheep. Life is about choices and best preparing yourself for those choices. Even if you could equally educate yourself Good Will Hunting style, you're missing an important social element that you will not get behind a computer screen. Your current actions will later haunt you.

The social elements of school are nothing to be proud of. Maybe you're talking about the elite one percent that use school for education rather than a hang out for drugs, drama, and conformity. Equally educate myself? Maybe if I were merely equally educating myself to the schools standards you would have the right to call me a dumb ass, but those standards have been shattered long ago.
