Dude, you are losing your mind. From that ICQ log, it would appear to me that you were the one that started with the threats. I'm not quite sure to whom you think you are doing the service to by warning anybody about Rick. We all know who he is and what he's done in and for this industry. Your rants are starting to sound like that of a mad man. I have, for the most part appreciated the fact that you spoke your mind, but this is getting strange. You will not be bringing anyone down, face it. Rick did not break the rules of the contest, the rules were broke and the contest void. You are starting to sound like that fucking 'Wacko of the West' Jive, I'm pretty sure that guy is sedated somewhere staring at plush white walls.

Personally I think you should step back and look at the situation again with a clear head. You should never call anybody your best freind when it's not true. But to be talking smack about Rick like you have been while he tried to settle this better than anybody else that posted would have, well for that I think you are wrong and I think you are hurting your business and rep further.

If you are ok with all this then by all means carry on. However look at all the other posts. Not one thinks you are right in this situation.

The other allegations about Rick that you brought up are all mute points. Because quite frankly none of them involved you and all were settled.

Every business and I mean EVERY business makes mistakes. We have all made our fair share. I know I certainly have. The thing is you learn from them and you move on.

Sometimes those business relationships are repaired but pissing like this against someone who could really help your business is suicide. Why do you think everyone is taking Ricks side on this? You think we are all his freinds? He wouldn't know me from adam. But we have seen both sides and Ricks position sounds like the path we all would take.

I personally feel you owe Rick an apology at the very least. The contest was shut down. There were no winners not even Rick. He took his lumps having it shut down and he moved on. You should do the same.

You feel that your reputation was tarnished by being banned because of the contest. As I understand it, according to the rules of the contest, Rick does not owe you anything. He has offered a goodwill payment. Yet, you won't accept "dirty money" as compensation. So, let the money do someone some good by allowing Rick to make a donation at your direction (if his offer is still on the table).

You have made your points. Mark it down under the experience column, move on and put it behind you.

In route of saying that he'd like to settle for $2k, and "make up" at the next conf, he also made reference to what he "could possibly do" instead, not that he necessarily wanted to do it, but it was an option he wasn't going to go with, in order to give you $2k and call things even.

I don't know much about Rick, but I was able to gather that much from the ICQ convo you posted.

If I were you I would have taken the $2k, and kept Rick as a good business contact for future work (not just from him, but his connections). I think there was more than $10k on the line here.

I don't know the other side of it to be honest. But, I do admire AlienQ's commitment to a personal moral ethic. Not everyone in this world is motivated by money... and wrong or not (im in no position to say), you've gotta respect that.

You are well known in the industry for being an excellent businessman, running a fantastic company and just being an all around good guy.
