Do you like it when owners of programs post and are involved on boards?

That is if your an affiliate of a sponsor program, do you like it when the owners themselves post on boards and are around to ask them anything? Also, do you feel more comfortable in promoting that program as you see the owners of the program around on boards and you can always hit them up to ask them anything? or does it not matter?

please discuss....

Big programs?

I would rather think the owner's too good for public posting

Small programs?

It's nice to have a program owner who excels in a niche be around to help and acquire new affiliates.

As an affiliate I could care less if the owners posted. Having seen the results most owners stop after the second post. Very few know what they are doing when they do it. They feel as if perhaps they should get invoved. And sometimes thats good. But almost 89% of the time they don't have a clue and just want their presence known.

Program owners should generally stay clear of the boards. That's what account reps are for - and please, only use real webmasters, and not empty chat bots for webmaster support. It's not impressive when you have to educate a rep about the industy.

I've seen some nice looking programs shoot themselves in the foot by hitting a board hard, and acting like they own the place when nobody knows them from a hole in the ground. Much better off buying advertising, and hiring a board whore to run your sig.

i agree.. i also think it would only be appropriate for them to post if they know how to post..... and not get involved in piss matches... something i admit i did when i first came on the forum... but quickly learned was extremely stupid and talked it out with a couple people i had problems with

I seem to have the most respect for those who run programs but manage to refrain from posting on boards regardless of what is said about them. A lot of programs lose business because of how the owners/reps act on boards. I'm sure we all have a few names we won't send traffic to because of some asshat who works for or owns the company.

Nobody said anything about "Big", and this topic is somewhat useless, since it's just a retarded attempt at spam.

I guess the answer depends on what they bring to the discussion.

If they don't really understand the issues of their affiliates, and are just figuring as some Big Marketing Voice, that basically just boils down to "We're great -- send us traffic", then I agree -- USELESS and distracting.

But, if your "owner" understands, can offer useful insight into the conversion peculiarities of his site(s) and respects the fact that affiliates are "investors", then you might get some good information.

I certainly wasn't an owner at AFF -- LOL, I wish. But I did try to build a bridge of understanding between the owner and his affiliates, usually as Affiliate Advocate.

Now that I'm at SexSearch.com, you can look forward to more of the same.

Generally, if you are an affiliate, you don't have much to say about the content of a board unless you are sending them lots of hits. If the owners want to contribute, I say "God Bless Them" as most owners make the effort to stay well informed.

I think its a good "We have nothing to hide, your opinions matter" message by having a program owner active on the boards.

Theres no such thing as the owner being "too important" to spend 15 minutes a day on a message board, if anything the owner SHOULD at least read boards to keep up with trends and competition.

I agree %99 of this board is crap, but paying close attention to that remaining %1 could be the difference between success and failure.

I don't think it's necessary if they have decent account reps. It's no harm either and always a pleasure when they do post and they're considerate.
