Do you like it when owners of programs post and are involved on boards?

That is if your an affiliate of a sponsor program, do you like it when the owners themselves post on boards and are around to ask them anything? Also, do you feel more comfortable in promoting that program as you see the owners of the program around on boards and you can always hit them up to ask them anything? or does it not matter?

please discuss....

SetTheWorldonFire 03-30-2005 09:57 PM

It's always good to get involed somehow.

networking is always good. :thumbsup

Steen2 03-30-2005 09:58 PM

Big programs?

I would rather think the owner's too good for public posting :)

Small programs?

It's nice to have a program owner who excels in a niche be around to help and acquire new affiliates.

JMO.

Spunky 03-30-2005 09:58 PM

Yes..although they seem too busy to post anyways

Doc911 03-30-2005 10:24 PM

As an affiliate I could care less if the owners posted. Having seen the results most owners stop after the second post. Very few know what they are doing when they do it. They feel as if perhaps they should get invoved. And sometimes thats good. But almost 89% of the time they don't have a clue and just want their presence known.

Doc911 03-30-2005 10:28 PM

of course there are the other 11% that are doing exactly what they should be

Program owners should generally stay clear of the boards. That's what account reps are for - and please, only use real webmasters, and not empty chat bots for webmaster support. It's not impressive when you have to educate a rep about the industy.

I've seen some nice looking programs shoot themselves in the foot by hitting a board hard, and acting like they own the place when nobody knows them from a hole in the ground. Much better off buying advertising, and hiring a board whore to run your sig.

i agree.. i also think it would only be appropriate for them to post if they know how to post..... and not get involved in piss matches... something i admit i did when i first came on the forum... but quickly learned was extremely stupid and talked it out with a couple people i had problems with

:2 cents:

good points.... need a sig? lol :-)

Babaganoosh 03-30-2005 10:59 PM

I seem to have the most respect for those who run programs but manage to refrain from posting on boards regardless of what is said about them. A lot of programs lose business because of how the owners/reps act on boards. I'm sure we all have a few names we won't send traffic to because of some asshat who works for or owns the company.

Nobody said anything about "Big", and this topic is somewhat useless, since it's just a retarded attempt at spam.

Next.

Move along. Nothing to see here.

reynold 03-30-2005 11:27 PM

It's okay.

" A retarded attempt at spam " ? what makes you say that now? I think its a valid question and Steen2 had some interesting points...this is a board, meant for discussion...i dont understand why people like you bring negative vibe to threads like this?

Why bother asking a legitimate question to people who can't answere them correctly?

2HousePlague 03-31-2005 12:03 AM

I guess the answer depends on what they bring to the discussion.

If they don't really understand the issues of their affiliates, and are just figuring as some Big Marketing Voice, that basically just boils down to "We're great -- send us traffic", then I agree -- USELESS and distracting.

But, if your "owner" understands, can offer useful insight into the conversion peculiarities of his site(s) and respects the fact that affiliates are "investors", then you might get some good information.

I certainly wasn't an owner at AFF -- LOL, I wish. But I did try to build a bridge of understanding between the owner and his affiliates, usually as Affiliate Advocate.

Now that I'm at SexSearch.com, you can look forward to more of the same.

Generally, if you are an affiliate, you don't have much to say about the content of a board unless you are sending them lots of hits. If the owners want to contribute, I say "God Bless Them" as most owners make the effort to stay well informed.

very true...i just think there are still many good quality people on this board...just a few who are rude and disrespectful...oh well

wargames 03-31-2005 01:55 AM

that would be more a more than good stuff. It would create a good network.

Xplicit 03-31-2005 02:01 AM

I think its a good "We have nothing to hide, your opinions matter" message by having a program owner active on the boards.

Theres no such thing as the owner being "too important" to spend 15 minutes a day on a message board, if anything the owner SHOULD at least read boards to keep up with trends and competition.

I agree %99 of this board is crap, but paying close attention to that remaining %1 could be the difference between success and failure.

polish_aristocrat 03-31-2005 02:45 AM

yep, but I like it whey they act professional

evanmorgan 03-31-2005 02:47 AM

yeah, i reckon it is good because then at least its easier to contact them, and you might get to know then better, it can only be better for the biz if everyone is involved

I concur

Drake 03-31-2005 03:09 AM

I don't think it's necessary if they have decent account reps. It's no harm either and always a pleasure when they do post and they're considerate.

kowntafit 03-31-2005 04:35 AM

The really act very professional.

justsexxx 03-31-2005 04:37 AM

I like to see them posting, but not spamming

It's a plus for sure :thumbsup

Fake Nick 03-31-2005 05:36 AM

big program owners should just outsource their posting activities to poor vietnamese people who speak no english and need the money
